Thrust arm vs control arm
Dealer reports that my thrust arm bushing are shot and I've received and read conflicting information trying to differentiate the two.
http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/200...agramCallOut=4 Per the above diagram, the way I understand it, the "front" lower control arm (2) has a bushing that can be purchased separately, but the "rear" lower control (4) arm bushing is not sold separately, and you must purchase the arm with the bushing installed. Which is the "thurst arm" then? Thanks. |

You can choose to buy just the PU bushings from Powerflex or upgrade to m3 arms with bushings.

The front thrust arm is the upper control arm and is commonly called the tension link. You have a few choices in replacing the bushing that failed: oem Meyle powerflex or Dinan solid. M3 thrust arms fit also and have firmer bushings than the first 2 or 3.
Adding: I wouldn't use polyurethane bushings in control arms. They'll get squeaky over time

Check realoem
Terminology varries. The lower front control arms are often called wishbone links. The thrust arms are above those

So the front suspension has upper control arms and lower control arms. Each has a nickname. After reading many posts, a person can eventually convert most of the lingo OK.
