Downsizing summer wheels for 335i

Somewhat of an odd request, I'm curious if anyone has any experience downsizing from the stock sizes on an LCI E90 335i w/style 193 wheels (m-sports). Couldn't find anything on the search - apologies if I missed something.

I really like the look (and ride quality) of my winter setup - rial 17" salerno anthracite (et 29, 8"). I was considering doing those wheels with pilot super sports @ 235/45/17 square. Tirerack doesn't list this as an option, but it should fit, no? I'd prefer 245/45/17 square, but I think that might be a bit wide for 8" rims, or the front suspension.

My only real concern is how much traction at the rear I'm going to lose, given that the car, lightly tuned, has some traction issues with the stock 255/30/18 rears. That's nothing my right foot can't cure - just wondering if anyone has experience.

I would have no concerns about lack of traction on Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 235/45R17 on the rear. A Pilot Super Sport in 235/45R17 will have more grip than the the vast majority of tires in 255/35R18...

The Michelin PSS is going to be grippy in a 235/45/17.

Bomber. Thanks for the info guys. One more question though:

Would there be any problems running 235/45/17 on 8" wheels (et29) at the front for a square setup? It's an LCI E90 335i, m-sport. That size doesn't appear to be a tire rack recommendation for an 8" rim, but if memory serves, there was a good bit of clearance to the front struts with the winters mounted (same rim, 225/45/17 running mich. xi2).

I don't see a problem with a 17x8 ET29 with a 235/45/17. We recommend 18x8.5 ET35 or 19x8.5 ET35 with 235 tires, and the outer position of those is the same as our recommended specs.
