WANTED: Transmission cooler for 6AT
Hi folks,
I've been looking for a dedicated transmission cooler for quite some time now, to fight the overheating coolant problems on the racetrack. Yet there are no complete kits available and a custom job is quite expensive. I'm sure we could get a groupbuy started to kick things off if a shop (VAC, Evolution Racewerks, AR design...well anyone!!) would produce a working setup. What we need is a good core, AN oil lines, a mounting bracket to put the cooler in the driver side wheel well below the radiator of the PPK, and something to block off the original openings in the main radiator. Voilà. Would be nice if vendors could chime in. Cheers, Christian

This will be useful as 6AT people continue to push more and more power to the wheels…Interesting. My only concern is reliability, as is the case with all aftermarket products that circulate oil. Heard too many horror stories about aftermarket lines and cores springing leaks.
But this is good to bring it up on the radar.

There are kits for the E46 that fit our cars perfectly. All you need to do is to buy them, and tap into your oem transmission oil cooler lines (heat exchanger). I looked into this a while back, but felt it wasn't really neccesary, since your water temps mirror your trans fluid temps because of the heat exchaner. Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

Just make your own. Should cost much less. Not exactly complicated to design/build. http://www.haydenauto.com/featured%2...s/content.aspx
