Boot/trunk won't open!
Couple of days ago put some stuff in boot closed it drove off got boot open warning on dash stopped to check the boot it was closed and however wouldn't open, tried locking unlocking central locking no joy. I then manually opened it with key then closed it and it started working fine again. Today again went to open it refused to open manually open closed it but now it won't work no matter what unless open with key, does any one know what's gone wrong, also I noticed my boot interior light also not working. Did quick search no one has a proper answer. Some good advise would be grateful.

If the boot light isn't working then it must be the lock mechanism itself...

Sounds like it could be the electronic actuator that locks/unlocks the boot with the central locking - which makes sense considering you can still access your boot with the key 'mechanically'.
Trip to the steelers could be order of the day. Just hope this never happens to mine as BMW deleted the mechanical lock during the LCI changes and there would be no way of getting in there!

Have you checked the fuses?

I had a quick look at the fuse chart but no indication which one is for the boot, does any one know which number it is? Also I'm constantly getting boot open warning on dash very annoying.

I done some research it seems if your glovebox light is working then the fuse should be fine, I took the boot cover off and had a look at the lock acutator it is held with with 3 torx screws and wire clip and manual lock wire, looks like might have to do a DIY. Correct me if I'm wrong before I start.

UPDATE: Changed the actuator/latch, worked perfectly fine for 10 times, then same issue again, opens sometimes maybe 3 or 4 times in a row then it stops opening then after 20 goes might open again, I cant get my head around it. Any ideas?
