What is up with 3-series interior choices?
I've got an M3 and I love it. My wife is due for something to replace her present car (2006 IS350).
I urged her to consider a 335i. I think she would love it. She got on the configurator today to build her car. She called me to say that they only have brown, beige, and black. Later I found out coral red is available. She now has no interest in a 3-series. What the hell happened to choices like ivory, oyster or platinum? The choices for the luxury line are only brown, black and beige. Seems odd given the options for other brands like the C350, S4 and the IS 350. Anyone else think BMW should expand the color palette a little? |

Yeah, I am also not a fan of how certain lines get exclusive trim options. I can understand the Estoril Blue exterior for M-sport, but the interior trims shouldn't be restrictive. I guess they want the interior elements to blend well together.

This is old news, and was argued about more than a year ago. They're actually not restricted, but the Lines ordering thing does restrict the palettes within the Line (Sport, MSport, Luxury, xLine). Venetian (beige) is available in most lines, as is Black. Coral Red is available only in Sport line IIRC. You need to play around a bit - configure the interior/exterior, then see where that leads you.

For the MY 2012/2013, the Sport line had the Everest Grey interior which is no longer available on the MY 2014 models, and is replaced by the Oyster/Black interior, which will be available on the Sport line from 3/2014 production. It sounds like the Everest Grey and the Oyster/Black interior is something that you are interested in. You can find some remaining stock of the MY2013 with Everest Grey interior or wait till 3/2014 production when the Oyster/Black interior will be available then.

Way cool! You mean 2014 F30's no longer offer the grey interior like mine!?
Nice...I like exclusivity. http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=875336

The lack of interior options is one of the things keeping me from pulling the trigger on an F30. I have to get red, black or beige if I want m-sport? Really? Beige with M-sport? So stupid. Yet, they create more color combinations by essentially have two different interior trim colors in each car.

Sure - they're in my "garage", but here's a couple:

Yeah, the options are stupid. Puke beige or surface-of-the-sun-hot black are all most buyers ever see on the lot.
Everest was awesome (light grey). If only the sport package interior was available in the states, but we'd have a bunch of people on this forum posting polls and whining about how it'll hurt their perceived resale, so nobody would buy it. |

You have to get up to the 5 Series to have all those interior choices.
Cost-cutting measure for 3 series production? Dunno. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=697460 |

No, those pictures were actually taken with flash on, so they're not quite that bright.

I want saddle brown sport seats, like in my E92, thank you.
There are no production savings in these restrictive line limitations as they are not applicable in other retail markets. There may be some pipeline savings for U.S. dealer-ordered cars, but none of it makes any sense at all to me. I'm not buying from the current range of choices. |

The "lines" are maddening when it comes to interior choices.
I am thinking of a 3GT to replace my F30 when my lease is up in April. Just saw one at the dealer today. I'm looking at the M-Sport so it's black, beige or coral red. I have black now and I like it but I would love saddle brown but that is only luxury line. I don't like beige at all. Coral Red I think I would like for a few months then be sick of it so I am probably stuck getting black again. What really bugs me is the trim. I really like the anthracite wood of the luxury and sport line but I can't get it on the M-Sport. So it's either burl which I don't want or the hexagon aluminum which I also don't really want. I would do the following with the Lines to open them up. 1) Let the line dictate the exterior body work and exterior bits only except keep Estoril an M-Sport exclusive and maybe the hexagon aluminum trim to let the M-Sport have something unique. 2) Allow all lines to get any interior colors and all other trims. Allow non-sport lines to order the sport seats. 3) Allow all lines to order anthracite headliner.
