Question AT gearshift wiggles / Adaptive headlight warning light

Anyone else find that the gearshift seems to have a lot of play "wiggle" when in drive? I find no movement when in the DS mode or in Neutral. Is this normal or should I have it checked? I only have 950mi and dont really want problems already.
Also, got a weird error the other day which went away after shutting off and re-starting, the adaptive headlight warning light came on anyone else getting this?
Thanks!

mine does not have play while in drive. do you mean that you can basically shake it around when you place your hand on it? if that is what you mean mine does not do that and it does not sound normal. have not had warning light.

have you gotten any condensation in the headlight?......it has happened to me, gotten the error right after i noticed the condensation and was certain that was the reason for the error but the error went away, so i figured everything was fine... but then i a few days later i got the error and my headlights weren't moving anymore.....if that's not the case....i check with the dealer either way....

There seems to be about a 1/2 in wiggle front and back when in drive, I guess I will have them look at it. As for condensation, I didnt check if I get the error again I will look....Sucks cause I only have 900 miles on the car and would hate to have issues right out of the starting gate

They all have a little bit of play, but it shouldn't be moving too much.

Easier said than done when you work 80+hrs a week!

I will have it checked soon, not too worried just thought I would see if anyone else has the same issue

ohh now that u work 80+ hours week explains why u have 335xi! you need the most time at home u can get so the 335 ZIPS you to work! plus working that long u need to have fun and enjoy what u have earned! I was thinking about this yesterday and my gear knob will move a little in D but thats because it can go into Neutral and move slightly downward. It does not really have "play" in it though if u keep your hand on it. In DS mode it does not really move at all unless you are to shift with it.

by play you're not referring to the ability to shift up and down by pushng forward and pulling back are you ?

i.e. like the paddles you CAN change gear using the shifter when in D mode, i.e. it WILL have play to allow you to do this, I sometime whack it accross to DS and accidently trigger a gear change too, which CAN be annoying, but it's suppossed to do this.

(someone did tell you this before right ?! )

As for the gear selector play, I mentioned it when I brought my car in for a SES light...came out that they had to change the radiator cuz some sensors in it crapped out.

I had a silver loaner 328xi, it had the same wiggle in the gear selector.

When I got it back 2 day later, I the report shows "unable to duplicate fault" on the gear selector.

It only does it when in D but move it to DS or M mode, it all goes away.
