Unrestricted top speeds

Hi all

idle curiosity talking here... anyone know what the unrestricted top speed of the f30 328i/335i/330d/335d would be likely to be?

There's a website www.automobile-catalog.com that gives performance data including an estimated top speed... The 330d is 160mph, 328i auto is 157mph and 335i auto is 164 mph according to them.
One cool feature is the ability to compare performance stats between cars on a graph.
Not sure about the accuracy though, oh and the 335d isn't listed yet

Looks a lovely bit of kit, like a stealthy M3...

A few years back I drove a B10 4.6 V8, as usual for Alpinas it was understated but went like a stabbed rat!

Interesting! Feels like my 328i had at a bit of reserve at 155mph - I'd be guessing more 160-165mph for it, but don't suppose I can argue with hard facts!

At a guess, these sites use oem power figures. As BMW down play the numbers, could explain different 'real' results?

Just for reference, my manual e92 335i had a JB4 and the JB speed derestriction applied. On map 0 (no power increase) I reached a GPS (vbox) verified 171mph on the autobahn on the way to the 'ring. On map 1 (slight power increase) it was 177mph.

There are a few different factors like gearbox/gearing, aerodynamics that would ultimately affect the top speed of the different cars mentioned by the OP, my post is purely for reference as I stated above.

True, the 328i is dynoing (yes, that's a verb now) between 265-275hp everywhere!

I'd agree, I think they do a computer simulation of oem power vs drag...
There's a video on YouTube of a f30 330d hitting an indicated 259kph (160mph in old money) from a standing start in about 60 seconds!

The 335d is up now and THE most important number is 18....

I'll be 18 meters ahead of you 330d drivers after a 1/4 mile drag
