Fineline Wood Trim vs American Oak Wood Trim

Has anyone seen Fineline pure wood trim. Unlike other wood trims, this appears to be a not laminated or has typical glass look.

Is it pure wood trim? Which one look better from the below images?

If you google a bit, you should be able to see some real life images/videos of these two types of wood. The appearance of the config is too far off.

There you go:

Debating this myself. The pure wood looks cool, different, but I wonder if it has some level of coating to protect it, or if it will be prone to scratches.

I was going to get the pure trim for my Mocha interior but chickened out at the last minute. I was concerned that it would look too plasticky and went for the poplar trim instead. There was a pure trim available on the modern line 3 series when it came out and I heard it didn't look so good.

I damn sure hope something on a 60 to 90k plus BMW would not dare call a finish "pure wood" and not be real wood.. BMW wood is supposedly always real wood, so this should not be an exception. I'm sure it is still coated with something to protect it from scratches, so I would have to think they would do that in a way that looked and felt natural and premium... or so I would hope anyway.

We're getting a black interior so I'm not sure it would look as good against black as with one of the tans or browns. But it seems like a cool, different option. Tough chance to take without seeing and feeling it in person though, so I will probably chicken out too (that and because of the black interior).

We ordered the pure fineline wood trim with the mocha nappa design package - exterior is Carbon Black Metallic - M-Sport. After reading the forums getting a bit nervous how the pure fineline wood will turn out - i'm sure it will look great and having a mix of anthracite headliner, mocha nappa leather, piano black, and the wood should provide a nice layer...she didn't want the aluminum since we already have that in my 335is.

I went with Poplar as the other choices appear to have more aggressive wood grains with so many parallel lines. I liked the richness and uniqueness of popular.

Aluminum

I am debating going with the Aluminum over the poplar, going with black interior. Does the Aluminum looks cheap in person or slick and sporty?

Thoughts?

the aluminum hexagon in M Sport looks more 'slick and sporty' than the regular aluminum. Not sure I would call the regular aluminum cheap, but the wood or aluminum hex definitely offer a more premium feel..

I also got the Fineline Oak Wood Trim (I assuming you meant Oak Wood vs. Pure Wood) with Ivory interior.

I second the "Slamming!"

The 2014 x5 I saw at the dealership had hexagonal trim which has the aluminum look to it. My personal opinion is that it looked cheap. Everyone has different opinions on this though.

That's what I ordered. It's tough to get accurate photos to really see what it will look like.

I have the aluminium with black Dakota leather with space grey exterior. Because it's a dark interior the aluminium 'lighten's' the car up. I like it and it has not scratched like I thought it might. At the end of the day it's a personal thing down to your taste.

I dunno - I've had both and the brushed aluminum can't be confused for anything else... while the hexagonal almost feels plasticky.

I ordered the Fineline Pure Wood without seeing it first, definitely got a little nervous. It turned out great against the black leather. Very modern looking IMO.

If I redid the order I might go with the brown or mocha leather instead.
