Painting calipers...do most people do this?
I'm about to upgrade to slotted/drilled rotors since my brakes have been squeeking recently. Since I was gonna do a DIY on the rotors I thought maybe I may paint the calipers. I always thought our
Brakes are caliper are just horrendous looking compared to other brands. But I was wondering if its cheesey to paint calipers? |

I purchased a kit off the internet made by G2. It is a high temperature paint kit made for brake calipers. Is it a brush on kit so it does take some time, but I had very good results. If you google "G2 paint" it should be one of the first links.

I went to Pep Boys and got the Dupli-Color caliper kit. And it has worked well. Its been on for about 2 years.

Ordered a set of 335i calipers off ebay and whomever had it before painted it blue. Probably brushed on. Will be disassembling it, bead blasting it clean and baking the paint on in a powder coat oven at my work. Then rebuild with new seals.
I am leaning towards just painting it aluminum or silver and then a satin clear....maybe gloss clear. Or if it looks nice enough after bead blasting, just put clear over that and call it good. Rattle clips won't be painted, but maybe I put the BMW decals on that. Maybe paint the caliper carrier in a slightly darker shade of silver than the carrier. Thought about painting the caliper carrier black with the carrier just silver to really put an outline on it, but it'd probably just look gawdy. I'm getting VHT caliper paint http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CPJLV2?...=UTF8&psc=1&s= . Not really concerned for heat, but because it supposedly stands up better to "chemicals". Of course you should cure it as instructed...although I have doubts about their secondary method to cure it. Last edited by Casca; 10-19-2013 at 09:06 AM.. |

I Did mine silver with high temp spray paint, been holding up well for about a year. I like the silver behind black wheels.
