What is wrong with people these days ???

Seriously ... what's going wrong with our society?

Yesterday I was driving along happily and exited a roundabout onto an empty de-restricted dual carriageway. There was only one car in sight, a blue mondeo, which was driving along the inner lane.

I left the roundabout in 2nd gear, floored the accelerator and very quickly passed by the mondeo in the outer lane.

Glancing in the rear view mirror I noticed that the driver was glaring at me and making the universal sign for 'w&nker'

My driving had no affect on him at all, but for some reason he decided to make insulting gestures at a complete stranger.

What was his problem?

Probably one of the following:

  1. He could be very perceptive
  2. He should be dead as he is a miserable B#stard who can not accept that life is what you make of it and the Mondeo is what he deserves
  3. He is Beemerbirds other 'alf

For the sake of forum unity I go for number 2

he might have been a really successful business man who only 18months ago had a conti GT, but lost it all and now is in a shite mondy, or he might have been struck down with an illness just before he was about to make it big?!

If he was that clever he would have had a diverse investment portfolio or critical illness cover.

NFS - I expect we've all had this a few times - I used to drive a yellow VX220Turbo and had to put up with no end of abuse from other road users, handily it's easy to reciprocate the gesture when you've no roof :finger:

Nothing wrong with Mondeos guys but its OK, I understand the need to drive flashy cars everyday and look down upon less expensive cars. One day I`ll climb to the social heights of a Mondeo ST Tdci

Brave man

Know what you mean though NFS. I over took a Ford Ka (like that was difficult) doing 40 in a 60 limit and he was gesticulating and flashing his headlights and generally behaving like a tanker driver with Carlos coming straight at him.

Hee hee, that's funny. My other 'alf wouldn't be seen dead in a Mondeo. He drives around in a 110 defender Land Rover fitted with a V8 that drips bloody oil on the sodding drive, as does the 2 Series ones he's got parked there!
He keeps threatening to carry a spare pair of shreddies with him next time he's in my car. Shouldn't drive something so slow I say.

Back OT, I had an incident on Sunday coming back from Sainsburys. Single, national speed limit carrigeway, visibility excellent, sun out, road dry as a nun's wotsit. Was following incidently a new 525d - looked like Dad taking the family out for a run. Fine no problem with that. He was obviously happy to stay behind this OAP in a knackered Rover doing 40 mph. NTS I wasn't. Oncoming traffic some distance away, overtakes & first car in oncoming traffic occupied by bloke probably in his 20's (Renault Clio!) starts flashing his lights. I had ample time to react to this & flash back & hold on main beam. As we eventually pass each other, he's giving me the finger - I knew something like that was coming so I had my 'waggle little finger ready' to indicate that his 'tadger' is as small as his car.

Conclusion: He's either jealous or is such a boring git that any adrenalin flowing through his veins, makes him light headed.
