Am I mad?
So after months and months of waiting the 335d has come out. Dealer approached and offer has been made my way. I'm just now waiting for the leasing companies to offer me a good comparison deal.
Now I have had some fast cars and now miss them. ie E60 M5, E46 M3, E92 335 and M3, 911 turbo but now i own a Golf GTD and a discovery 4. However the golf isn't big enough so it's going to be replaced. My mind was made up with the 335d touring. However looking at lease deals the C63 AMG is on great offers, as is the new M5 but they will both cost a fortune to run and lets face it the 335d will be a great compromise in the real world ...... Apart from the noise! So having had a look at PCP and dealer contributions the 335i touring is making some sense. It will still do up to late 30s mpg or higher on a long journey and having had a 335i before I know they sound great and are open to tuning. Would I be mad to go for it or is it actually the obvious option. Remember in PCP and leasing the crap residuals are factored in at the start so i dont have to worry about how much (shocking) value they lose! Thanks |

Depending on the numbers I would prefer to lease rather than PCP a big petrol car, means residuals are never an issue. I know PCP does give some assurance but it still fluctuates.
What's the deal on a 335i like compared to a D? Saw a decent looking lease on a 335d saloon today, about 2500 down and 36 months at 400. Private deal so no vat to add. Was business nav so would need to upgrade that. What the deals like on the C 63 and M5. Like you I wold be tempted by a cheap lease on a big 8 pot engine. |

I'm waiting for quotes on the 335d with all the toys. I too would prefer to lease but we'll see.
The M5 was up over 600 for 20" wheels and foldeing seats. Cant remember extact figures on C63 but roughly similar to 330d touring lease deals. Easier to window whop too as it already has most toys fitted so adding options not really an issue. 330d touring lease with all my toys was 4k down with 540 ish a month for two years. Toys fairly bump up the prices on lease deals especially on short terms. The only thing about PCP that may benefit is that the dealers will be happy for you to trade up early (I am considering a 4 year PCP but change car again after 2). Hopefully the dealer would be keen to take back the high spec car whereas the lease companies hit you hard when ending a three year lease a year early! |

Yes I agree, one of the major advantages of PCP is the flexibility aspect, however can we be sure we are being treated fairly if we do upgrade early?

Regarding the 335i, sadly BMW are not offering (or weren't last time I checked) good finance rates on petrols. This often makes the petrol models more 'expensive' than an equivalent price diesel. M5? Yes great car, and fantastic value really ....oh and drive it smoothly and it puts it's smaller petrol engined cousins to shame on the economy front. Certainly 'eco' compared to a C63 |

I did look at a C63 estate and I could have got one cheaper than I pay for the F31 330D but as Nisfan said they are looking and feeling dated now. Other than the noise and engine I didn't really like it. All C classes are known for rattling and the AMG's are even worse due to the hard suspension, it just wasn't for me.
I did also see some good deals on the facelifted E63 estate. They are a much better car. |

The C63 isn't going to happen. One of my mates has one so thats that. I also test drove one when I had the M5 and was really dissappoointed - The dealer said I was the first customer he'd ever had who came back from a test drive in a C63 and didn't love it.
The E63 and even the 5 series touring come under the banner of just too big and they both look like hearses. I have test driven and been very impressed with the XF sportwagon but the deals are awful. There are some good deals on broadspeed for the RS4 but I'm not sure what the pCP rates are. Overall the 3 series has such good deals and is the perfect size. The 335i is a reasonable deal but after a nights sleep it really has to be diesel, trouble is now I'm pondering whether to go 330d S drive with PPK or 335D X drive. Given my posts in other threads regarding traction I think I know my answer. Just need to wait for the deal to be perfect.....and for me to decide whether to go superman or not |

Sorry didn't realise it had been discussed but it has to destroy the resale as the combination is a very personal one whether you like it or not
