iPhone 5 Smartphone Adapter installed

I installed the iPhone 5 Connect version of the Snap-In Adapter. Incredibly simple installation, flawless BMW Apps integration, and music does in fact play, including cover art display! Cooling fan included. Pretty nice.

It doesnt open the trunk, it just locks it. then you can use your key to lock that compartment. its probably for valet parking.

^ thanks! is it an option? also you have RED HORN sign on a key in states, does it make car beep twice or something? because in europe we have rhombus on that button and it illuminates front and rear lights without beeping

Horn button: Touch and car goes to pathway lighting. Hold = panic.

Confused on what the Music / Media one is all about if the Connect adapter plays music??? I guess that's if you want video out?

The connect version is for those with the BMW apps option.

Today after 20 minutes using this adapter, IPhone went into high temperature mode locking phone, function returned after cool down process, around five minutes, anybody with this problem?

Stealth, any problem with your adapter?

No issues with mine. 9hr. cross country trip and it worked flawlessly. Make sure it's snapped down front and back.

the only issue, i have the incipio (dummy proof) case
it won't fit, i have to take it out of the case each time
it is a pain, but i drop and break phones enough, will have to endure

I thought so, but I have an intermittent heat issue with the phone lately. My dealer is addressing it as a warranty issue.

I'm not sure I still completely understand the benefit of the snap-in adapter for iPhone 5 ... can someone explain what features I gain over just connecting the phone via Bluetooth for Telephone & Audio.

I understand that the adapter will connect the phone to the shark-fin antenna for better reception, however I have great reception in my area. My issue with the snap-in is that I need to remove my leather case to use the snap-in, and actually have to remove it from my pocket and connect/disconnect every time I get in/out of the vehicle.

Just trying to completely understand what I gain, and see if it is somehting i should purchase.

I do have the B&O Audio option in my 550xi, and want to have the best possible audio quality. Is the audio quality of MP3s from a USB drive, iPhone via Bluetooth, or iPhone via snap-in any better?

In your case there may be no benefit.

If you run caseless like me, then it is much easier to dock and undock than having to maneuver a tiny cable into a tiny port. You can dock the phone with the snap in blindfolded in less than a second. That to me is awesome.

I protect my phone from scratches using a skin which doesn't pose any issues with using the snap in. But a case wouldn't work.

Interestingly my adapter is an early production Media version with no fan.

Despite this I have had absolutely no overheating issues. In fact my phone doesn't feel hot or even unusually warm after I remove it. Just feels normal (not cold but lukewarm).

That said I ordered the Connect version a few days ago because during ED I had compatibility issues with the media adapter in my 2014 M5 (works fine in the 2013 one for some reason).

Audio is much better using the adapter or cable in comparison to Bluetooth connection. Also it allows you to seamlessly run BMW apps if you have it.

Yes but w/o using the cable and just having Bluetooth on you cannot play music. Just your phone connects to the car which to me is silly. Music should be able to play.
