Tried out the Vector FX2
I got my toy (accelerometer) from the states today and had a play with it tonite on a deserted stretch of 'runway'. I entered all the details for the car to the best of my knowledge, so hopefully it should be fairly accurate.
I switched the traction completely off first but the car just snaked all over the place on the dry road. That torque is hard to reign in when you are not used to driving without traction control. I then switched if half off and tried a couple of fairly successful runs. In one direction (probably slight decline), the best I got was: 0-60 4.87 secs 0-100 11.98 secs (max 351hp at 59mph) and then in the opposite direction: 0-60 5.20 secs 0-100 12.9 secs (max 336hp at 57mph) Getting the car to launch without either constantly killing the power with the traction control ON or smoking the tyres with it OFF was difficult. I guess I need to practice a bit more Good fun though and it really shows that the remap makes a difference. I reckon if I can master the launch process, I could maybe shave a bit more off those times.

Since I got a 5.2 in the other direction, I would say that 5 to 5.1 would be a more reliable overall figure. Still, I was very well pleased with the figures. At the end of the day it does not matter; it is all just a bit of harmless fun I will have to get a play with the wife's 320d as well. I can try it with and without the tuning box. This should give a good comparative result.

Careful, you'll end getting comments in the "dirty" thread.

I'd be very interested in the 2.0D on and off tuning box figures... That other thread I started was me wondering if there is any significant different between a (decent) tuning box and a remap.

Good fun, aren`t they.
A 5 sec. 0-60 sounds about right for a mapped 335d, I managed 5.9 in my mapped manual 325d. Can`t beleive I`ve not got round to strapping my G tech into the M3 yet. |
