Rubber Strip Came Out Of Sunroof
Hi All,
Earlier today I was closing the roof panel for the sunroof (not the sunroof itself), and I sensed some resistance. I looked up, and I saw something through the vents in the panel. I then reached between the glass and the roof panel, and a two or three inch wide and about a foot long rubber strip came out. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. If so, is it easy to fix on your own? I bought the car new last April, so it should still be under warranty, but if it's an easy enough fix, I wouldn't mind saving the trip to the dealership. Thanks again, and my apologies if this has been an already addressed issue. |

Hi, I experienced the same thing since last nite. My headline cover for the sunroof has resistance pulling in and out and makes a weird noise...It also has a mark on it as if a velcro tape was stitched to it and left a mark on the fabric. No excess material though on the sides as you mention.. Did you fix yours? What was the issue? Is it easily repairable? Car has only 3k Kms btw.. Let me know....
Thnx! |

That sucks. I'll keep an eye on mine. You get what you pay for, right? ...wait..

I had the same thing happen to my 328i. Going to the dealership with my winter tire swap appointment. It still works fine though.

Reviving an old post. Had this happened to me this morning, exact same experience as the OP. How was this fixed? If I can attach it by myself, it will save me a trip to the dealer. Looking at REALOEM, is it the rear most weather stripping?

If you tilt the roof, at the bottom of the glass where roof tilts up, there is a notch and the rubber piece fits into it.

I put mine back in when it fell out. Took less than a minute. The channel on the rubber strip fits over a plastic bar. It's not a tight fit, and goes back on easily.

Yup just slide the peice back onto the plastic ridge. There’s a groove in the rubber as well, you’ll feel it grab on if you’re doing it right.
The picture helped...I put it on backwards the first time, which is probably why I had it fall out again lol |

Thanks guys, smacked me on the head while driving too and had no idea how to fix it.
How does it even get dislodged? Mine fell while I was closing the moonroof from the open position. |

Mine came off yesterday for the second time and instead of falling inside the car, it departed the car going down the interstate. What is the purpose of this weatherstrip piece? Is it worth buying a new one probably to have it come loose?

Does anybody have a part number for this? I cannot find it. I recently lost mine when I opened the sunroof :-( If it's not too expensive I would try to replace it.
