USB connection "flapping"

Picked up my F10 CP this evening - pix to come tomorrow once the sun comes back out. Pickup was in the late evening.

First problem encountered - when I plug my iPhone 5s in via the USB to lightning cable, it connects and disconnects rapidly on the phone - i.e. the phone makes sounds as if the plug is being connected and disconnected rapidly - and the icons at the top of the screen indicate the same.

The same cable works fine to connect to my computer, so it's not the cable.

Anyone seen this? I assume there's something wrong with the USB jack.

Mine does that every now and then. But I think it is my cord. It goes away after I reposition the cord.

Yep - turned out to be the cord. I tried my actual Apple supplied cable and it worked fine.

there have been a bunch of reported problems with aftermarket 'lightning' cords - not necessarily specific to bmw but their quality in general. i would stick to apple. even the ones on amazon that are sold as oem have been questionable.

situation
When using the USB cable to connect the iPhone to the USB audio interface, the iPhone charging status constantly switches between charging and not charging. This is noticeable by the alternating flash in the battery symbol on the iPhone display.

cause
The quality of the USB cable can cause a voltage drop (usually caused by using aftermarket cables).

information
Do not replace any other parts!

Advise the customer that he/she must use one of the following:

The original Apple iPhone/iPOD USB cable that came with the device

A BMW supplied iPhone/iPOD USB adapter cable

Mine is original cord but as stated wear and tear can cause it.

I used a brand new apple cable for the ipod and it worked for a while. It just started to get loose again and it keeps on disconnecting. It's annoying.
