My car has been at port since 10/15 (South Africa - Rosslyn) awaiting shipping vessel (8 days). Vehicle has not been assigned to a ship as yet per BMW NA 800#. Any recommendations for tracking vessel from South Africa to USA?

I've tried entering VIN number (last 7 digits) on WW site with no info thus far.

I've done a search on the following site to search vessell schedule from Durban to USA which has a ship departing 29OCT arriving 27NOV.

Am I looking in the right place? My CA has not been able to provide much more than he will update me once the car is on a ship.

not sure bud..sorry--but this is why you never order a S.A build..it takes forever!.. gotta make sure you let them know you want a German build!

esp in your case--you are in NY--you would be one of the first stops for the ships!--its a much quicker process in comparison to S.A builds

Only thing I've been able to track is that the car is on the Onyx Ace. The ship departed South Africa and next planned stop is ES_VGO and then will continue to New Jersey.

Hello, I wonder where ES_VGO is?

I have a 335i that has been at the port of exit (status 193) since 10/25. It's also a South Africa build, and I'm concerned that it's been taking forever to board a vessel headed for the US (I'm on the west coast).

So about a month from SA to the USA?

Just got news from my CA, and mine finally made it on Sincerity Ace. Looks like it left Durban 11/7, made a stop at the Port of Elizabeth, 11/13, and now headed up to Europe/Germany.

ETA to the West Coast - Port Hueneme is 12/26, and will probably be at the dealership 5-7 days there after. Looks like I'll have a late Christmas gift...

Yes just tell your dealer you will wait for a German build allocation--- bc the wait times from S.A are ridiculous--I have no idea how some of you have the patience to wait this long...thats insane! Go for Germany built it'll cut your time literally in half.

Yes, you can request German build but it depends on slots available. Your dealer may not have any and you may need to contact other dealers to see their availability.

If you sign up for Euro Delivery you are guaranteed a German build. My dealer did say that all custom 335i xDrive were being built in South Africa and have seen that comment made by other posters on this forum. Do not believe the lies. You have to shop around and get what you want.

I went along with South Africa only because my dealer said I would have the car by early November which met my time line for lease return but in reality the car will be delivered approx. one month after what my dealer estimated.

Agree with Trinidon, smaller dealerships especially don't get a lot of allocations (esp for 335i's) and the extra wait for a German build could take an extra month which brings it in line with the total wait for a SA build.

My CA was very upfront thankfully, while the wait will be on the longer end, it's within the range communicated to me.

There is a glimmer of hope that I'll have my car by end of this month. Onyx Ace is docked at Bremerhaven. Hope all goes as planned for continuation to the US. Count down now to owning my first 6 speed.

Also, how are you tracking your ship? I'm on Sincerity Ace, which left Durban a couple weeks after Onyx... I searched the site you provided and seems Sincerity is out of radar?

I've been tracking via www.marinetraffic.com. Onyx Ace was out of radar for approx. 10 days until it got close to Vigo, Spain.

Aren't all new orders coming out of Munich? CA told me no South Africa builds for now due to the strikes..

Mine is on the same vessel. Any idea when it will hit the east coast?

12/26 is ETA for the West Coast. So maybe a week or two earlier for an east coast stop? Hard to say for certain..

I haven't been able to find a definitive date for the east coast yet no matter who I ask. The wait is really starting to kill me!
