My performance brake resale value?

I have a leased 2014 335xi with the standard brakes. I was not interested in the $600 msport brake upgrade. I am interested in the M performance brakes. My question is are the brakes worth it? After the lease is up could I get anything reselling the M performance brakes with rotors that have 36k on them? Any idea on the stopping distance between the 2? I'm more interested in an emergency stop vs track stopping with brake fade.
Thanks and sorry for the many questions

They are nearly the same thing man. The only difference between the M-Sport and the M-Performance upgrades are the slotted/dimpled rotors. Get the $600 upgrade.

I got the mperf brakes mostly for looks. They perform the same... I'd guess you could get a grand for them after 36k miles.

After much internal debate I had mine installed today. They look great. No weird sounds either!!

As already said, on the 335i the M Sport brakes are the same size/material as the M Performance Brakes, except the discs.
I had the same "ordering" problem and just had the M Performance Brakes installed when I got the car.
The M Performance Brakes rotors are in my opinion better than the non-slotted in heavy rain conditions and on heavy street/track use.
And, they just look better :-)

In typical normal street conditions (emergency stop with cold/not very warm brakes on a dry road) normal rotors are better because they give more surface to the brake pad, than slotted/dimpled rotors.
(Naturally comparing same rotor size, same brake pad)

The rotors are lighter for the M performance option...and are covered for replacement under the factory maintenance plan.

Majority of price difference between $600 and $2900 can't be explained by rotors though...

The price difference is attributed to one set being factory-installed and the other not. The $650 route is essentially the difference they charge you between M brakes and the standard ones. With the $2900 option which you are ordering as an add-on, think of it as the cost of the new brakes PLUS the standard ones which were on the car that you keep as spares.

That's a good way to look at it......

....but where are you guys getting $2900 from? I paid nothing close to that.

That's around MSRP for the set front and rear from BMW.

You're forgetting about the rotors. They are probably worth about $1k+ through BMW.
