100k+ miles Owners' :: Share Best Practices
Dont fry me on this, been cooking in my head all the freakin time I love this car
we all know the 13k oil change interval is just crap, a few other maintenance items ppl should consider as they approach high mileage (75k+) - vaccum lines leak - boost leak stuff (CP, FMIC connections, DV etc) - water pump - serpentine belt "hitting" subframe issue (plenty of info on here) - DME w/ fried transistors (pretty cool DIY available) owners with 100k or approaching, pls share best practices everyone can benefit from looking to keep their cars alive for a long time My fears : - freakin timing chain jump (due to loose or broken bolt.. makes me sick thinking abt it) - oil mixing with coolant (this bitch I heard has no remedy.. water body rusts starts to mix with engine oil, preventive maint shd help, shoot suggestions) - electrical issues that drain battery, extremely hard to troubleshoot (dont ask how I know...) whatelse haunts you guys out there ?? lol +1
In all seriousness tho, I am at 125k miles in my 07. I do oil every 10k miles despite the dealer telling me that every 18k is all that is needed(I do put oil treatment in every other change tho). Before the CPO ran up, I had a blower motor and power steering pump replaced. As a result of different botched installs, most of the electronics in the car were replaced around 100k miles($10k in electrical at someone else's expense, thank god!). I let the dealer do all of the work, but really just fluid changes and regular maintenance, and she still runs like a champ! |
