car won't start!!!!!!!!

so today i went to the local home depot to pick some stuff up. 20 minutes later i get into the car and insert the key in the slot car tries starting as if the starter cranks and stops before it turns over... now when you put the ignition key in everything lights up it goes to position 2 but nothing happens. Its not the battery cuz we tried jumping it and when that didn't work we got it checked and it was at 100%. i found a video of the exact same scenario on youtube...
<<<<link. my guess it would be the starter if so i have no idea how difficult it is to replace one. i really dont want get buttraped by the dealer if thats the case. what are peoples thoughts?

This problem has been documented before, and yes, it is the starter.

This thread should be of assistance:

What did the mech say? It seems like it is just the starter that has failed going with what I see on the vid. Can't pick up from the vid if the starter is trying to crank as you said though...

About 3 or 4 yrs ago my starter was making this grinding noise everytime I would start it in the mornings but over time stopped all of the sudden and never heard it again. Even today no more noises.

the intake manifold was a bitch to get off. I've never seen so many vacuum hoses/sensors, but i guess thats bmw ingenuity. Now the car has a small vacuum leak and isn't idling right. Gonna have to backtrack and try to find it...
