Tire Opinions
Currently shopping for tires. With so many brands and models, it's difficult to select the right ones. Looking at 235/35R19 up front and 265/30R19 in the rear. I live in Miami, so you know the climate. Not taking the car on the track, not interested in tires that roar loudly at freeway speed. Would like tires that won't wear out rapidly.
I'm not interested in run flats because of the abuse to the rims. I'll take my chances, I have roadside service thru my insurance. Any tips/opinions? |

About a year ago I got 2 new tires for the rear after a lot research I just went with Yoko S Drives, and they were great.
I am about to pull the trigger on new tires for new rims and going to try out Hankook V12. Seems like a lot people on here like those and have great reviews overall. One that I stay away from is Nexen, seems like the quality is not very good. They make the 3000 and 7000 series, and I know they have changed the technology over the past couple of years. They are VERY affordable but they always seems to wear down fairly quickly. My vote is: Yoko S Drive Toyo Proxes Bridgestone Potenzas non-rft Hankook V12 (will be buying in Dec.) Hope this helps! |

Can't tell you which ones to get but I can definitely tell which one not to get. Falken 452's suck ass. They have great tread life but they are some of the loudest tires I've ever heard. Not just on a car but on any vehicle period. I have 453's now and they are good but the 452's are terrible.

Price: Hankook V12 Longevity and performance: ContiExtreme DWS I mention the DWS because of the high tread life. Even if you get no snow, they will last longer than all of the above. If you have no compunction putting down money, then by all means, go with Hankooks or Michelin PSS. Michelin Pilot Super Sports @ 225/40/18F, 255/35/18R: Hankook V12 @ 235/40/18F, 265/35/18R: ContiExtreme DWS @ 225/40/18F, 255/35/R:

Best Performance PSS as above
Best Value Bridgestone Potenza S-04 pole position Best Price Hankook or Conti, but really I would stay away from this route unless your budget doesn't allow ~900 for the potenzas Last edited by AlexTopFitment; 11-13-2013 at 12:29 PM.. |

I use to have pss and honestly not worth it unless you plan on tracking your car. They are very pricey. I would go with the hankooks.

After all the great input it was between the Continental Extreme contact DW (Summer) tire and the Hankook V12s.
Tire Rack prices- Contis: $852 Hankooks: $736 The customer ratings on the tire rack site were too close to be a factor. Major differences were price and treadwear with the Hankooks at a 280 and the Contis at 340. Looking at the thumbnail pic, the tread pattern on the Hankooks look better. Taking all into account, I think it's going to be the Hankooks, which seem to have the advantage based on the price difference, though the Contis have better treadwear rating. thanks all! |

Edit: I checked and need front size: 235/35/19 and rear: 265/30/19. Can't find the rear size in Potenzas. Last edited by RD335; 11-13-2013 at 02:17 PM.. Reason: added comments |

The difference between 265/30/19 and 265/35/19 is really minimal, about 10mm, that's why they don't make both sizes. You will still fit 265/35/19 it's what I rock.

They'll fit. The 265/35's are actually a full inch larger in diameter. Not a lot if you look at it in those terms. But when you compare the 265/30 to the 265/35 on a tire size calculator, you can better see the effects of altering tire size with respect to actual road speed vs what your speedometer reads.
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php The 30's add .7mph to the speedo reading over stock tires. The 35's add 3.2mph of speed at 60mph over stock tire size. You never know, that could very well end up being the difference that gets you pulled over. |

If you're smart enough to calculate the speedo difference you should be able to set your speed properly with the knowledge you gained, yeah? Seems like a shame to sell yourself short for that reason
Don't think anyone has mentioned this, but the tread pattern on the Hankooks leads to a much noisier tire especially when wide and especially in the later part of the tires life (less tread). You can see this in the reviews on tire rack At the end of the day it's your decision so I don't care, but if you say 265/35 fits then its no reason to exclude some of the highest rated tires, probably the highest rated under 1 grand |
