You Guys Think My 335D Is Totaled??

I got rear ended on freeway last friday(I stopped barely in time but person behind me hit me) and it caused me to get pushed into a car in front of me...the car who rear ended me was caved in a couple feet but surprisingly my back end looks damaged just modestly...but since I have front and rear damage, do you guys think my car will be totaled?...or fixed?...either way, I prob. won't keep the car at this point.

So if they don't total car, what are my best options?.

Boy, that's going to be expensive; my guess is $10K.

But that's only about 1/2 the replacement cost and they usually don't total it until 75%, but it's all just a guess on my part. Sometimes things are worse than initial appearances. Be sure to put in for diminished value, as this probably will cause some.

Sucks man, and you only recently got the car.
It isn't totaled by any means though. The car should appraise over $30k.

yeah and I put in a MusicCarNW stage II stereo system in recently too.

oh well, I have had 5 previous M3's in the past, maybe I go back to it again?.

I would get a Corvette Stingray or Cayman S but I need 4 seats.

Any other cars I should be looking at if I need 4 seats???

The 75% repair to total isnt true, its closer to 50%. Take it from someone whos totalled a car or two lol. Just let them fix the car, it aint the end of the world.

Garage List
It's a good time to do an m3 conversion (and/or switch to CSL trunk) if you ever wanted one.

Msport or performance conversion should be close to free (short the side skirts). The only extra items for the m3 conversion will be the fenders, quarter panels, and side skirts along with your passenger side headlight and a few miscellaneous bits.

Might as well make some lemonade, brother!

That sucks, how long did it take to find the correct car for you?
I have not been able to find a 335d xdrive in the colors condition I want.

I don't want to ask this offensively, but how much of a disappointment to drive in comparison to a M3 is a 335d? Or perhaps what is the difference in fun factor or enjoyment since you would be able to make a direct comparison?

What things do people commonly think, are overstated about the disadvantages of one over the other, and vise versa? On this car they are on either side of the spectrum, I would love to hear an honest comparison.

I was actually one of the original Tesla Model S wait list guys...but I canceled order at last minute and bought e92 M3 instead...wish I would have stuck with the Tesla cause I owned the stock at 20.00 when I was on this list but sold it when I got my deposit back.

As far as 335D...I drove reg 335D and it didn't handle very well...hence I bought one with sport pkg and then handling was decent but still bait loose and sloppy compared to the M3...but although I know the M3 was faster it didn't feel any faster due to 425 ft-lb of torque in the diesel...but M3 is a heavy feeling car and felt abit soft hence I have always added coil overs to all my M3's.

I think that 335D is a great commuter car...does everything well but not great.

But wasn't that reliable for me...in the shop for something quarterly for me anyway.

Thank you, I would love to get in a model S, bit out of my range...
Been a electric nerd and advocate for as long as I can remember, I hope they are more common place in the coming years.

I really want a solid commuter, and something that can tow light loads well, seadoos, karts, light trailers, and will get to Hood in the snow reliably and dependably.

Cant shake the 335d from my conciseness as being the correct vehicle for this purpose....

If I could really understand the coking issue, I could move forward and really start committing to this car.

if you get some used parts and your hands dirty you should be able to sort this for not very much at all.

Tesla's catch on fire. Sure you want one?

I don't think it will be totaled. It will be a pricey fix though but I can't see a problem with the car after a good fix. It seems merely cosmetic. Nothing wrong with the drivetrain. i'd keep it. it's a great car. Like you said, does everything well.

1M.

I don't think I can find another car better suited for daily driving / commuting than a 335d, at least for me. Satisfies my performance and fuel economy needs. I've been driving it for a year, so far NO other car (Maxima, Altima, Accord, Lexus, typical commuters) has been able to beat me on the red light launches.
Puts a smile on my face every time they try.

I say keep a 335d for commuting and get that Porsche garage queen.

I didn't realize there were so many 2011 335D's for sale out there...I may just buy another one if I can find one with low miles, CPO, sport pkg and esp. M pkg.

Was close to buying a 2011 M3 4 door fully loaded with comp pkg for 53K and only had 12K miles on it but someone bought it right before me!

Definitely not totaled. The engine looks completely fine and I doubt any frame damage. Looks like new front and rear bumper, trunk and hood, head lights and tail lights. I would say 7k ish...I would use this as an opportunity to replace it with parts that look nicer. If you had plans to do any exterior modding, this is a chance to do it all for free. Sucks, the whole situation, but you can look at it from a positive light.

No way! Are you serious! This is what we call cosmetic damage, unless your underlining chassis is deemed dangerouns and fucxzzx, you will need a body and paint job- 2 weeks no car.

I am sure the car fixable and probably not totaled but either way, this car is gone for me...I am kinda finicky so I don't want a car that has been wrecked...personal choice.

And the only mods I ever do is exhaust and suspension upgrades...not into doing cosmetic upgrades.

For best resale, I'd make sure that the carfax noted: "no frame damage".

That is what i was going to say. If from the rear hit the frame bent - then there will be nothing but problems. It happened on my friends's subaru Legacy, the car was Rear ended the damage was not looking much, but then repair shop told that the frame got twisted due to the impact - he sold the car.

Hey guys, I found a 335D loaded with M pkg for so so price...has NAV, premium and M pkg but it didn't say sports pkg...can you have the M pkg without having the Sports pkg??...cause not having sports pkg would be deal breaker for me.

Based on pics, it does seem to have the sport seats like mine and the real paddles shifters(not like mine where both right and left function the same).

M-sport includes the standard sport suspension with few other cosmetics bits such as front and rear bumpers, shadow lines, steering wheel and so on.
