2 Series Pricing - Australia

http://www.ausmotive.com/2013/11/14/...rom-79990.html

BMW Australia is arming its dealers with pricing and specification details for the forthcoming 2 Series Coupe. Local allocations will begin production in January 2014, meaning you could start seeing them in showrooms by March, possibly late February.

BMW 220i Coupe – $50,500*
BMW 220d Coupe – $52,500*
BMW M235i Coupe – $79,900*

*Manufacturer’s list pricing (includes GST & LCT), correct at time of publication.

We’ll focus on the M235i for now. Costing well over 80-grand driveaway, at full retail price, we’re seeing the reality of BMW’s aim of placing a higher premium on the 2 Series Coupe compared with the 1 Series hatch. The M135i currently has a list price of $64,900 and $15,000 buys a lot of options. On the other hand you get an extra 5kW and a pretty face in the M235i.

Crucially, for performance-minded buyers, the M235i pricing will position it in between the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG hatchback ($74,990) and four-door CLA 45 AMG ($86,900).

Standard specification highlights
8-speed sports automatic transmission with Launch Control and ECO PRO mode with coasting function.
Navigation system Business (standard for 220i/200d)
Navigation system Professional (standard for M235i)
Extended Bluetooth connectivity
Cruise Control with braking function
Automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control
Highlights include
Standard equipment lines: Sport Line or Modern Line for 2201i and 220d.
Functional elegance with a free-standing flatscreen on-board monitor.
An Easy-Entry function built into the front seat provides convenient access for the rear passengers.
Unique versatility thanks to an optional 40/20/40-split rear backrest.
Superior everyday usability – features include large storage compartments in the doors and two cup holders positioned in front of the shift lever/gear selector.
Increased space – more legroom (+21mm) and foot room in the rear as well as 20 litres of additional luggage compartment capacity (390 litres).

Option programme

Advanced Parking Package (Z1D) – $1400 ($1000 for M235i)

Front parking sensors
Rear view camera

Visibility Package (Z1E) – $2500 ($1200 for M235i)

Bloody hell we get ripped off Down Under. Surely bixenons are standard on the M235i? I wonder if BMW Aust will drop the price a few months after the launch as they did with the (my) M135i...

I'd say so. Hence the Visibility Package is cheaper for the M235i. It's dumb of BMW Australia to have released the pricing details in this half arsed way.

Wow, US folks (me included) don't have much to complain about when it comes to vehicle cost.

I lived in Perth for six months 13 years ago, all I remember, the living expense and tuition were less expensive in comparison to US.
I know that AUD exchange rate to USD got stronger since then, I wonder how much of that affecting the cost.

I am sure shipping cost is a factor but it can't be the factor. Tariff, tax?
Has the vehicle cost always been more expensive in Australia in comparison to the US?

Yes. By a lot. This is actually a $10k price drop compared to the 1 series Coupe when it was first sold.

My neighbour from the UK, who is based here for a couple of years, wanted to buy a Carerra to replace the one he had to leave behind. Couldn't believe the price difference and ended up with a Ford Mondeo.

I was just wondering the same thing??? That would just be insane if those aren't standard...

Full spec? Does that include any of the M performance options?

Since you placed an order, do you find out what the standard kit is for the M235i? This has been a little vague in the information released so far.

Full spec does not include performance parts. What it does include is as follows:
- Comfort package
- Advanced parking
- Visibility package
= MSport Package STD
- Pro Package STD

If you want to include Performance parts, you have to order the parts through the dealer. The performance parts will be fitted by the dealer and not in Germany

Thanks for the info. I thought HK would have been STD but $600 isn't much.
