2013 335xi on H&R sport springs quick review

So just had these put on along with 13mm spacers on the front and rear and I have to tell you that if you have xdrive, this is THE upgrade to spend your money on if handling is what you miss from the last generation of 3s. Everything from nose dive when breaking, nose rise when accelerating, and body roll is almost eliminated while only making the car more stiff and not bouncy. I really believe that some sway bars would top this off while new shocks, at least for now, are not necessary. Will i get them when available, more than likely but I wont be rushing out now because I honestly dont have an immediate need...i truly think this car handles as it should have from the factory.

As far as ride comfort, the ride is stiffer, no question there. I really didnt mind the way the car handled before and rode, but I always felt "floaty" and like the car was going to tip-over when corner hard at speed....not any more, much more planted all the way around.

I wish I had more pics but because these came out like shit, but I will take more tomorrow, at least you xdrive guys can have some insight now into how much of a difference and upgrade this was, while seeing for yourself what the drop looks like. Btw, Turner Motorsport did the work and the damage was just under 1k for everything: H&R sport springs, 2 sets of H&R 13mm spacers, and labor.

Yep I'm sure, I checked the box part # with H&R. You wouldn't see the top of the tire at all with the super sports.

then your profile must be the reason cuz I've seen several sport ones with more gap.. I am installing the sport springs with 12mm front and 15mm rear on a 17" with profile 50 do you think it will still be stiff as you mentioned ?

The only thing I don't like about stock suspension is the bounce over a bump on high way, you can lose control pretty easy, hope that upgrade will do it

Honestly bro I don't know.... I have sport springs and the spacers are 13mm both front & rear. What do you mean exactly by "profile 50?" I've never heard of that? .....and did you mean 17" wheel?

I know that my car was a bouncy pillow with the stock set up and now it's not. I'm sure stiffer shocks with traction/stabilizer bars would make even more of a difference but there are just no option for those upgrades for xdrive yet that I'm aware of...

lol I'm sure it does!

The brake feel is much better because the nose doesn't dive off a cliff when you break hard.....with the stock set up, even just down-shifting hard coming into a light caused the nose to dive on me...not any more!!

Ya at this point I'll wait until more stuff comes out and hopefully do sway-bars and new shocks all at once

I have the 328i and it's tuned believe me that's the worst choice to do with a single piston BMW brake feel is awful, although I don't have that nose dive idk how but I think cuz the car is lighter from front and brakes are less powerful I'm very glad.. that will help me a lot If the springs didn't help I would have to change the brake lines and brake pads

I think I need these on mine, we have the exact car. My car wobbles on the freeway and feels very unstable. Did these springs help with that?

Nice!
What suspension do you have? Standard?

Glad u like it, but lowering your $57k USD Bimmer on $250 HR springs does not enhance performance on roads with dips, it actually can make the car more dangerous. I would recommend either purchasing the M performance suspension or going with a high quality coil over such as KW v2 or Blisteins.

For me safety, weight, performance over looks

I disagree but to each his own. These springs while costing $250 were designed for the stock suspension components and therefore do not jeopardize safety. Now I'm not saying they improve it either. For me, a cosmetic upgrade, which these springs are, also included a performance upgrade by default. By lowering the car's center of gravity, the car no longer rolls nor bounces when going over dips or hard corning. Whether they were designed to that or not idk but it is what I'm experiencing. I do agree that a high quality coil over is the best solution but it isn't one available to me at this time to my knowledge, and even if it was, I don't know at this time knowing how these springs handle if I'd spring (pun intended) for the coil-overs for the cost differences.

Bottom line is bounciness is caused by springs on vehicles, not shocks.

I have found aftermarket springs like H&R and Eibach only do three things, lower car for improved looks, provide a cheap alternative for lowering vehicle and improve performance on a LEVEL road, but that is it. Once you encounter dips in a turn the stock suspension is far superior and less dangerous.

We need to be cautious of how we pitch aftermarket springs to newbies.

Cheers.

Have to agree with Gastoys on this one. Springs certainly improve the appearance of the car, but it comes at an expense...
