3 series vs 4 series roof?

Does anyone know what the ratio is in size between a 3 series and 4 series roof? It seems that the 3 series would be significantly larger due to more upright A and C (B in the case of the 4 series ) pillars but is it and by how much? I'm thinking that the CF roof on the F80 could save more weight where you least want it ( up top ) than what it did on the E92 and will do on the M4.

This question proves to me that there is actually no finite limit to the potential analysis of the new M3/4

They should just save themselves lots of sleepless nights, and buy the Volvo they're meant for.

Another question for you with CF roof equipped E92s. How does it hold up in regards to scratches? Does it require any special treatment or is it just to wash and maintain like the paint?

Could save more weight is the right term ... but it will not, because the F80M3 will have more isolation to reduce noises - Raindrops etc.!

I have heard/read about weight savings of 5kg : M3 and 6,5kg : M4 ... all against an non existing Steelroof without Moonroof.

Mine is still looking pristine after 5 years and 90000 km (daily, winter & track driven).

I'd say it holds up even better than paint. it's got a really thick clear coat and because of the weave doesn't show scratches. I'd be hard pressed to believe that it wears much at all.

Since the E92 carbon roof saved around 11lbs of weight compared to the steel one, expect to save at least a couple of lbs more on the new M3 vs M4.

Which counts for absolutely nothing btw. =)
