Question Summer tires in North Texas

My new 335i GT is coming with summer tires, thanks to its M Sport brakes and the law of unintended consequences. Can anyone give me a sense of how bad the traction is likely to be, when it's 35° and raining for example. (I know that our occasional snow and ice are a lost cause)

If I were to buy all-seasons, would there be any sort of market for the summer tires (sans wheels)?

You shouldn't have any problems - it gets cold in Central and South Texas too, and I've never had any traction problems using summer tires for the past 12 years. If you're really concerned, talk to your dealership about swapping out your tires for all-season tires after it arrives.

Based on my experience on cold dry pavement the summers are fine. I've had them on in 20* weather, not ideal but it can work. As soon as the road gets wet, and it's below 32*, it can be a little sketchy and you have to be careful.

I'm fairly sure that they're not allowed to sell me the car with all-season tires because of its governor setting. I do believe that they would be willing to sell me an additional set of all-seasons plus the installation costs, but I would have to figure out what to do with the summer tires.

It sounds like it should be a non-issue, as long as I exercise reasonable care.

Thanks everyone!
