I may be behind the times, but have they confirmed if and when there would be an xdrive model yet?

The 435xi can have both, why not the 2 series? (If x-Drive ever arrives, that is).

Yes the M235 will be available in an xDrive version as of July production. It will arrive as a 2015 model. Not only will it have the adaptive M-Suspension, it will retain the 10mm drop that the RWD version has. Any other BMW that offers the M-suspension set up drops the car by 10mm UNLESS you add xDrive. Which is why all of the M-Sport xDrives sit so high compared to their RWD counterparts.

The M235 xDrive won't suffer from this ridiculous 4x4 look and will retain almost all of the performance (handling) benefits that it's RWD sister possesses - yet another benefit of having the ///M Division help out with the development of this car.

Lots of research, lots of personal knowledge about BMW's over a couple of decades and....my sources at BMW and BMW M. Keep in mind that the M235 is one of the new breed of M-Performance cars (our first, the rest are ROTW only) and as such they've been massaged by the right people. Not a great deal more but enough to differentiate between the "M-Sport" range of BMW's that we can all get, depending on model. I'll not post anything that isn't correct BTW.

Just IMHO I'd pass on the x-drive - too costly, adds sig weight, and merely helps to get the car rolling in heavy snow, nothing more - opt for a 2nd set of rims w snows. Now if u absolutely dread changing tires, go w the x-drive.

P.S. what does ROTW stand for anyway?

Rest Of The World.....Greg. And with or without X-Drive, I'll continue to use dedicated winter rims/tires on all of my vehicles as I've done for a decade or so. Change them myself even...how 'bout that!!!

P.S. What is with this ridiculous name change? Have you taken on the identity of an organized crime figure? A mobster? Heaven forbid...a "hit man" or someone capable of arranging something sinister? Should I be afraid to speak my mind about your misinformed ramblings like those above pertaining to X-Drive, particularly the X-Drive coming in this car? You truly are whacked....ooops, I take that back, probably suggestive for someone with your new identity.

Quick question though...would your "agency" find your new tag as amusing as I do? I suspect not, probably wouldn't be appropriate. Politically incorrect comes to mind. I'd change it if I were you.

Do you know if the same will be true for the 228 xdrive MSport?

Good question. To be honest I've not heard nor read anything to suggest this. All of the current M Sport pkgs with xDrive ( eg. 3 series, 4 series) do not lower the car. Only the RWD versions get the 10mm drop. M Performance cars with xDrive are a little different and they do in fact sit 10mm lower, the result of a tiny bit of help from the M Division in their design and engineering. Probably not what you wanted to hear so my apologies.
