UK Price Estimate != US Price Estimates?
Since we have UK Price Estimates:
2015 F80 M3: Starting at £56,175 2015 F82 M4: Starting at £56,653 Can someone tell me 2014 pricing UK pricing and 2014 US pricing so we can do some quick comparos on price? Using the M5 as a comparison (uk=73.7/us=92.9) that would put the US price of an M3 at about $71k. How does that sound? |

that's really a narrow gap between the M3 and M4. only about USD $600. I guess that makes sense to have that closer given the CF roof no longer separates the two models, but that flies in the face of their strategy to use the '4' number to charge a premium.

You simply cannot make this comparison. Pricing does not and will not translate cross market, nor will it cross platform. Futile exercise.

Might be better to go off price increase from E92 for an estimate...
2013 E92 M3 Coupe in UK (January 2013 Pricing) 54,945 GBP OTR 2015 F82 M4 Coupe in UK (December 2013 Pricing) 56,653 GBP OTR(?) That's a 3.11% increase, which works out to... 2013 E92 M3 Coupe in US $60,100 2015 F82 M4 Coupe in US $61,992 (est) |

UK pricing is up! Just hover over the "M" to see the prices of the M cars...
http://www.bmw.co.uk/vc/ncc/xhtml/st...orMainExterior The pricing information is helpful, but raises a strange issue. The price difference between the M3 and the M4 is very slight (less than 500 pounds) but the price difference between a 3 series and 4 series is much larger (more than 3000 pounds). If you take the ratio between the markup of a base 3/435i Msport to a M3/4 and apply it to US prices, you can get an estimate of what US M3/4 pricing may be. However, the M3 ends up being more expensive (since the ratio on the UK M3/UK 335 is larger), which can't be right. But my guess would be that the US pricing will be similar to below... Base UK M4: 56,635 Base UK 435i Msport - 43,155 (Sport Auto Transmission since this is what US 435i's have) Base US 435i MSport - 49,100 Therefore (56,636/43,155)*49,100 = $64,436!!! Base UK M3 - 56,175 Base UK 335i MSport - 39,750 (Sport Auto Transmission since this is what US 335i's have) Base US 335i Msport - 46,500 Therefore (56,175/39,750)*46,500 = 65,714!!! My guess is that US prices will be be close to these. Keep in mind that M3/M4 will have more standard features than the E92 M3 so the markup isn't that terrible. Just something to think about... EDIT: The reason I'm doing the ratio with MSport 3/4 series instead of going with percent increase over the E92 M3 is because: 1) There never was a 3 AND 4 series before and 2) It makes more sense to me for BMW to maintain a certain price premium percentage above MSport 3/4 cars since people will compare the two when deciding on value for the money. |

I did the math several different ways using several different models, and my GUESS is that the M3 Sedan will be be $64,500-$66,500.
Just looking at the 2013-2015 % difference in the UK would suggest something closer to $62,000, but with all the added content, I'm expecting a bigger increase. |
