Here is a pic of an artist's rendition of the 2008 C-Class. If the production model looks anything like this, a blunt nosed mazda look-alike, then the E90 got nothin' to worry about. Yes, I'm aware that it's just an artist's rendition, but why not right? Post any opinions you have, good or bad.

The passat is not my favorite car nor is it one that I really care about at all for that matter but it looks a hell of a lot better than that monstrosity from MB.

Well, I don't think it's that gross...honestly, like the new design better than current version(Can't be worse right? No disrespect for the C55 AMG though) The Rear reminds me of upcoming Jaguar XKR...but still it will have hard time turning e90 owners head.

The last two sets of pictures posted I quite like. The first, that "artist" is a tard. It'd be a very nice entry level luxury sedan. I don't consider the 3 series 'entry level luxury' sedans though. More luxury sport sedans. Anyone looking toward the 3 series as a luxury sedan *is* going to be lured away toward this car though.
They just aren't the same image; I personally don't think the brands have the same buyers at this level. Of the people I personally know that buy Mercs, they'd never even consider a BMW. Not luxurious enough, ride too stiff, "they're for boy racers". Of my friends that buy BMW's not a one would consider a Merc, "they're for old folks and Dr's wifes." It's a fun to banter around but why is anybody on this board concerned with either the C class or the Lexus IS? |

I believe the design trend is to make the C-class look more like the new CLS, which is very sleek and futuristic looking in my opinion. However, the chrome area atop the front grille seems a bit overstated and in-your-face in the artist's rendition. I also feel the hood ornament looks a bit old-fashioned sticking up the way it does. However, I do like the sculpted line detail on the car's sides. Very interesting in that it's "wedged upwards" toward the back and not horizontal.
Below is the new CLS that most of you already seen. Gotta love the side profile. |

Also, one of the other problems I have always had with the C-class is that its design looks like a watered down (if not more "square") derivative of the more expensive Mercedes models--i.e., the car looks like the entry-level, cheap version. I styling of the last 3 generations of 3-series cars has never made me feel that way. I actually like the 3-series styling better than that of most of its larger siblings.
