Need a relaible independent mechanic that use good parts in SOUTH FLORIDA area

Hello all,

I already posted this in the regional forum but just want to expand the audience.

I have a 2006 330i (E90). Love it since day 1. My extended warranty finally ran out this summer and I already went to the dealer once to fix an ignition coil problem. Unfortunately the shop is outrageously expensive and charged me 350 for labor to replace ONE coil and I am not having it anymore so i am looking for an independent shop that would do good work, especially since the coil problem came back and i want to replace all of the coils and plugs in one go.

I am located in the North Miami/Aventura area and I travel to Ft Lauderdale often so I would like the shop in that general area. I have gotten ads from Motronix and i wonder if they are any good at all.

Thanks for any advice.

If I'm not mistaken Im pretty sure coils are a very easy DIY. Might want to give it a shot yourself.

Your mileage may vary but repairpal is a good site. obviously its luck of the draw but the one mechanic i found on there was very nice and extremely knowledgeable.

I used Motronix for 6 years after the maintenance on my 2002 325xi was finished. They use genuine BMW parts. I have never had a bad experience with them. The only reason I do not use them now is because I bought a 2011 CPO 335i. When the CPO warranty is over on this car, I will go back to Motronix.

I am computer literate but mechanically a moron. If i take it apart i can never put it back together LOL.

I will give Motronix a go. I hope their prices are more reasonable.

Are you able to build your own computer? I've found DIY'ing some of the simpler auto stuff easier than that.

Im pretty sure a 8 year old + a diy can remove and re-install a new ignition coil, Maybe you think you wont be able too, but i promise you, you would..

In my opinion since you say you are "Computer Literate" i suggest you do some research on your problems and find out a Fix, before you go spend money on something that could have been done with 50$ and 20 mins of your time..

Honestly, i wont mind spending a little money. I have never touched an engine before and i dont have a garage with tools. (condo here with no assigned spaces. If i have a second car i wouldnt have minded giving it a try but this is my only set of wheels so if i fucked it up i will be rather stuck.

Very simple i promise you, its better to do some research before you go spend money where it shouldn't be spent.. There is no way you can fuck up changing a ignition coil.
