Diamond in the Rough!

I just bought my car two weeks ago from TX Auto Direct in Houston. It is a 2008 335i coupe, in immaculate condition, that had only 1 previous owner and a staggering 29,000 miles. Which is quite unusual for such a dated, yet timeless, car. I was searching the VIN on goggle to see what came up and found the EBay listing from the first owner.

Borla, yes the actual company, had leased my car for what I presume to use as a test vehicle for their exhaust as it has their Aggressive back system on it and the car is in pristine shape. I've emailed Borla to inquire about the history of the car because I'd just like to know.

BTW that particular system sounds beautiful IMO. The first cold start of the day produces a deep throaty rumble that tapers off to a melodic tone that frequently replaces the stereo. It has a bit of in-cabin drone while cruising at speeds less than 75mph but that's easily remedied if u catch my drift.

I found this to be rather interesting so I thought I'd share. My wife acts likes she's interested but that's because, well, she's my wife & she must . Although, i think shes getting a bit tired of hearing about my new mistriss. Consequently, I thought I'd share with fellow enthusiasts that might appreciate it a bit more.

Does anyone else have any cool stories about how they obtained their car or something related?

Sounds like a fun car, good find!

Low mileage 335's are good buys IMO, lots of car for the money.

I bought my 2007 335 6MT one owner a few months ago with 23K on it and I LOL'd at your mistress comment, I'm sure my wife feels the same way.

I have many pictures but they are to high resolution for the forum to accept them. I'll take some today after I get it tinted and post them!!

To make it even better I got it for $24,700 ttl, $28,000 after 100,000 mile warranty. Blue book is close to $26k. First car I've bought with ZERO buyers remorse. Merry Christmas to MEEEE!!!

"they are to high resolution for the forum to accept them", place the pic's online on something like fhotobucket and copy, then paste, the "IGM" link to your post.

I bought a 2011 335xi m sport fully loaded for 43k and it had 17k miles. Was a good deal for me since it was the only car in months that came up fully loaded in lemans.

OP, good purchase! Are you going to mod it?

Considering the blue book on the car your describing is $34,475 for a sedan and $35,522 for a coupe without a warranty I find your claim a bit lofty. Unless it had a salvage title or something else is wrong with it, whomever sold you the car isn't all that bright or has plenty of money to throw around.

If the car is clean then you got a great deal and someone got screwed. Regardless, suspicions abound. Where did you get it from?

I plan on cosmetic mods but nothing else. I wanted to go with JB4 but after reading that BMW can find prior boost levels stored in the CPU I decided against it. Years ago, I bought a 2005 STI off eBay from a dealership in Florida that had a boost controller on it that was unknown to the dealer. The car was advertised as having an existing warranty. However, It had the boost turned up to 18-21psi which eventually burned through 4 qts of oil in less than 1500 miles and blew the motor, warranty voided, and cost me $8500 for a rebuild. Needless to say, it left such a bad taste in my mouth I refuse to play that game again. Further down the road, when my pockets are deeper ill get an M. The car is great as is to me.

Nope, everything is legit. When I saw the price, I left work to go buy it I been looking for one over 6 months and found a killer deal and bought it on the spot. The color and all the options I wanted. 1 owner trade in. In fact, i just got it back from BMW maintenance service and got all records on it, oil changed every 7k miles

what was funny, i walked out to the parking lot after we talked numbers because of $140, but I came back in

i can PM you the link if you want...

Why didn't you fight that? They sold you a car with a warranty, if they sell you a car with a mod on it and claim the car is under warranty then the mod shouldn't be able to void your warranty from there.

i did try to fight it. However, the differences in Texas and Florida law presented an impasse for any type of compensation. Luckily i had a bit of stock from college to cash in.
