Talking Some stories have a happy ending! (pic heavy)

So, back in high school, I saved up $8000 working full time summer jobs and being frugal when given money for birthdays and holidays. My senior year I was accepted to every college I applied to and as a reward/birthday present, my parents matched my savings to buy me a 2000 323i:

Fast forward 6 years later, and I'm half-way through my 3rd year of medical school, when the 323i decides it wants to crap out and need a new radiator. So I find a "reputable" shop, not my regular guy since I'm still away at school. The guy orders the parts, calls me 3 days later to tell me it should be done that day. Then I get a second call about 3 hrs later as I'm leaving the hospital early to pick up the car to notify me that the owner of the shop took the car out for a road test and totaled the car......

Turns out, a female in her twenties driving a mustang decided to run a red light and send my baby (and the shop owner) over a guard rail and into a ditch

Regardless of what really happened, I was rather pissed....so I had to drive a shitty Altima for 2 weeks until I found a a helluva deal on an '06 325i.

Only had to contribute $1k out of pocket (after insurance reimbursement) and I'm back in a much newer (to me) Bimmer!!!

Here's a link to the pics:

325i may not be the quickest but EXTREMELY reliable, which will save you many headaches down the road IMO

Awww man, my first BMW! Had an executive demo with 17" wheels, fully loaded with Dakota leather and Monaco Blue exterior- where the love affair began

I'm hoping this one will be more reliable than the 323, that thing had me in a rental car/loaner far too often! Glad to hear the praises for the e90! Needless to say I think this was a "blessing in disguise"

Just to clarify, everyone involved in the accident was fine! The irritating part was, the shop tried to charge me for the parts that were in the car that was totaled! They lost my sympathy after that....

I never got how that worked if a shop you went to totaled a car. I have liability in my e36 m3 since I drive it 2500 miles a year is not worth that much anyways. I know any hit would pretty much total my car and most e36s these days since most are valued under 6k.

Welcome to the forums and the 325i crew mike! I say if you're gonna drive the hell out of a BMW, this car's the one to do it in. We get the least headaches!

Congrats on your new ride.

My daughter was attending MICA in Baltimore when her roommate got T-Boned driving my daughter's car a block from their place at St. James Court. It must be the nature of the drivers in the area to run red lights... LOL!

OBTW, are you at UMBC?

At any rate, glad you got updated with an e90... time to mod... hahaha.

Glad your story has a happy ending! It's a shame that an E46 had to go. That's still one of my favorite generations of the 3-series.

As others have said, the 325 won't be extremely quick or anything, but it's still a proper BMW if you ask me. You've still got a sweet I6 under the hood, among other things, after all!
