Thought I got my F32 order in before the holiday factory shutdown, but now it appears that production started, then they all took off to celebrate while my car was in the paint shop -- still stuck there (been a week), and I now have a estimated completion date of Jan-08-2014.

Does anyone know how long the factory (Munich, I'm guessing) is down for the holidays, and how that affects cars somehow stuck in the process?

I know that summer vacations for some europeans, except Norwegians off course, are pretty long!

I was told January 2 the factory would open back up. I noticed a status change on my order that was placed thanksgiving week and has sat untouched since while the factory enjoyed almost a month off!

No status change for me. Still in the paint shop, completion date of 1/8.

You are lucky you can get the status updates - we in the UK have to rely on our Dealer. I ordered 7 Dec and was told just before Christmas that my build would be 'week 1 January'. A couple of days ago I was told that my build would be 'January' !! It feels to me that I have slipped and I very much guess that a factory shutdown is to blame ! The Germans are quite into Christmas (I used to live there) so I am not surprised. Luckily, due to registration reasons, I don't want mine until 1 March anyway.

I Just checked the BMW Welt website and the factory was shut last year 17 Dec to 4 Jan and so I guess there was an equivalent 2 week or so shut down this year.

No update on my order! Same status as it has been for weeks.

Dealer emailed me and said my 6-8 week waiting period is set to "start" now that the factory is opened.

I know this is a general estimation given to everyone, but I'm still a bit frustrated they sat on my order for a week in November not getting the order in until after the factory closed.

Life's life and it is what it is. Just griping.

I put my order in on 12/16 and production began on 12/20 and I have an expected completion date of 1/21.

I dunno. I signed the order and paid the deposit Monday the week of Thanksgiving.

They couldn't get it in until the end of the next week, then I was informed the week after that the factory was closed for holiday.

All I know.

I have been keeping detailed notes on my 435i production progress:

11/30/2013 - Signed order papers with my client advisor (CA)
12/06/2013 - CA emailed my production number
12/07/2016 - Called 1-800-831-1117 and got status of 'scheduled for production with no confirmed production date'
12/09/2013 - CA told me my status is 111
12/17/2013 - CA told me my status is 112
12/17/2013 - Called 1-800-831-1117 and still got status of 'scheduled for production with no confirmed production date
12/18/2013 - CA told me my car started production!
12/19/2013 - Called 1-800-831-1117. I got 'Your vehicle is in production the estimated completion date is 1/16/2014'. My CA told me the delay is because of the holiday plant closing.

I have not checked the 1-800 number for a few weeks, but I assume the plant is back in production at this point.

Wow man, you got a raw deal. Mine went into production 4 days after I put in the order but then everything was on hold for the HOlidays. They're back on track. I want my car

I signed my purchase order 12/11/13, allocated for January build....just called the 800 number: car in body shop with estimated competion of 1/9 (this Thursday). It seems the factory workers came back from vacation and started on my car ASAP.

Mine's in the paint shop with est. completion 1/9 (in body shop yesterday). Ours car should be on the same boat. It's safe to assume you're calling today to check status. Let us know!

Production complete! (Those Germans sure stick to their schedule) - now waiting for a ride to the port, I guess! I hope there' not a huge backlog there due to the holidays... time to start scouring the shipping schedules.

Once I hear about someone else on the same schedule/ship, I'll start a thread for that
