Are there any issues putting 5 series or X3 rims on a E93?

Are there any issues putting SUV rims and tires on a 328i or 5 series tires on? Do the bolt patterns match?

Yes bolt pattern is the same. You might need spacers for clearance issues with x3 and also most of those are really heavy and 5 series wheels are low offset so you might need some modifications to fenders or narrower tyre and maybe hub centric rings. Your question is too generic to answer yes or no. You need to know/tell the exact width, offset and centerbore of the wheels before this can be answered.

My car comes with 225-40-18 in the front, 225-35-18 in the back. Would these work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Take...912f65&vxp=mtr

Number of Bolts: 5
Rim Width: 8
Bolt Pattern: 5x120
Rim Diameter: 17
Offset: 30

Would I need spacers or anything else:

Thanks!

NOPE, that should work fine on your car. No spacers needed. Of course if you want them to look half decent, a 10mm spacer should put the wheels flush to your fender.

Wheels would work just fine. I have 17x8 et20 at front and et10 at rear. So for aesthetic reasons you might want to add spacer to rear. BUT tyre size is way too big, probably wont fit without rubbing somewhere. These would work with 225/45/17.

Or 225/50/17. I don't think I've ever seen an E9x with 225/55/17. I'd be interested to see if it fits though, without having to tuck the entire wheel/tire assembly of course.

Yes but even that tyre size deviates from the stock factory size. 205/50/17 is also one possibility.

one question.... Why?

Just wondering why you'd want to put an SUV rim on a 328. I can see the 5 series rim, but why the SUV one?

What difference does it make? Having more options is always a good thing...especially if he finds a cheap set. OEM quality all while pulling off a different look. Ain't nothing wrong with that!

So what? It all depends on what the OP is shooting for. Running taller tires isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I didn't say it's bad thing, but with taller tires you need to be more aware that the possibility of rubbing can happen more often than stock tires, this of course depends on the specs of the wheel.

You're right, so what. He could want Chevy rims on his E93, I don't care. But it was just a question man. It's a forum...

The specs of the wheel were already given: 17x8 ET30. A 225/50/17 will not rub with those wheels on the car in question, but you are correct, that size tire obviously won't work on a car that's slammed with super aggressive offsets.

Understandable. And for the record; my question wasn't meant to be sarcastic, I was just curious. There are a lot of good deals out there, so be patient and get what you want. Keep an eye on Craigslist too, I know people that have found some diamonds there before.

Good luck!

similar question

I've been eying an E60 BMW 550I snow setup on the Type 116 wheels that has 225/50/17 snow tires. I'm stock on suspension and it appears it will work. The front end concerns me most as I think it pushes the front wheel/tire 8mm out so I had rubbing concerns.... Also had a brake diameter concern as my sport pack 335I had too much brake for the E46 17" type 68 mtechic setup I tried on it...

I have that exact set up, see below. Runs just fine, the occasional rub and I consistently make sure that snow does not well up in the wheel well during major winter storms.

Hmm. Interesting. Where exactly is it rubbing?

Input on the Rub?

The pic makes fit look pretty nice. Thanks for the input - Curious about how bad the rub is and when... I'm guessing while turning and hitting a bump simultaneously from the front end?

I'd like to go 17's on the snows as I have generally found that more sidewall give translates to better snow performance. Oh - and they're hella cheap as well

You hit the nail right on the head, rubs when turning and hitting a bump and major potholes. It also rubs in the back with a fully loaded car over intermediate and above bumps. Nothing to worry about, i have yet to encounter any significant problems or abnormal wear

Also any speed bump just go very slow! Other than that no issues. To answer FCobra94 its just the fender liner and sometimes the edge of the fender itself i believe. Not a wheel & tire expert by any means.
