$2500 NON-refundable Deposit?
My local dealer has agreed to honor ED pricing on an M3 Sedan. As of right now, I'd be the first person to leave a deposit for one, which I was planning to do on Thursday, until I was told that they'd need a $2500 deposit that was NON refundable.
I haven't ordered a new car in a few years, but I've never had to leave more than $1000, and it has always been refundable. Is this normal? This dealer is owned by a big corporation, but doesn't do many ED's or sell many M cars. They don't seem to know much about the M3 other than it was announced recently (They still don't seem to know the base price for some reason). My concern is that they re-nig on the ED pricing at some point down the line, then I'm screwed out of my deposit. If this type of deposit is common, I'll pay it, but it seems a bit excessive. |

If your convinced the car is what you want, at this point in the game, a guaranteed 7% ED discount is, in my book, a good thing. Do you really want to go to Europe? If not, this dealer might let you have at ED discount and take delivery at his U.S. site. It really should not make any difference to him. |

Non-refundable not even be legal, best to put it on a CC.

Non refundable?? I don't think so.. Then the dealer will come up with some fine print bullcrap about their special "offer" and you would be up the creek. I wouldn't trust them.. again, this isn't exactly a limited production car... so who cares if you don't get the first month's allocation.

One of the local dealerships here is also requesting a $3,000 non-refundable deposit, however it's only non-refundable after the M3 actually goes into production but is refundable any time up until then. Thoughts?

Deposits should be around $500-$1000 - IMO that's alot and especially non refundable. If I can be of any service whether ordering or guidance: PM Me.

This car will be available over the course of 4-5 years before another change with thousands being built worldwide and these dealers act like its limited smdh.

Sounds like you got what you needed in writing. Seems like you should be fine. Still BS that these dealers are doing this though.
