Looking for coder

Any coders in RGV, San Antonio, Austin, or Houston. I live in the RGV but i make trips to San Antonio and Austin on the weekends pretty often. Would love to meet up and see the process first hand and get some coding done at the same time.
Thanks

I've just started coding and live in San Antonio. Maybe once it warms up we could have a little SA coding meetup.

I'd go for that - I want the digital speedo/true speed coded, as well as unlocking after pushing the engine stop button twice. Had these on my E92 and really have missed those features. Also had this done on wife's 128i convertible, and it's nice being able to have the
"v=" display in the instrument panel. It would be even better if there were a way to have it display in one of the F30's iDrive screens too.

BigDog - just curious - what cable did you have to get in order to code F30s? The one that worked with my old E92 and the wife's 128 doesn't seem to work on the F30. I can't get Bimmersoft to show a connection to the ECU. Bimmersoft is an inexpensive app that will read/clear codes and allow you to log/graph quite a few OBDII readouts.

Sounds good

yes that would be awesome. Give me a good reason to take a road trip one weekend. It would be sweet to get some sort of meet and greet and coding session up and running. Ill be moving to Austin in May so making some new bimmer friends would be nice.

I got mine off of ebay from this guy.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/200953571594...84.m1436.l2649

I was able to get it for $20, looks like its $25 now. I think there might be people on here that make them from time to time. I was going to make my own, but by the time I got the required pieces and cable, i was going to be at least $15 so I just bought one pre made.

I haven't done the digital speedo/true speed or the unlocking after pushing the engine stop button, but I have done:
  • Brake Force Display
  • Rear Fog Lights
  • Open / Close Windows & Moonroof and Fold Mirrors with key FOB or confort access
  • Cell Phone ringtone in car
  • Tire Pressure and Temperature in TPMS screen
  • Changed iDrive Startup Animation
  • M Performace Logo on Dash
  • Digital Speed in Instrument Cluster
  • Window Auto-Up with Door Open
  • Enable Fog Lights with High Beams
  • DVD in Motion
  • Disabled Seat Belt Reminders
  • Removed iDrive / Nav Disclaimers

Always looking for more things to code

BigDog - thanks for the link to the cable. I notice it has an RJ45 connector...does that connect to a network port on the computer end or is there an adapter for USB? My current cable has a USB connector.

I like all those things in your list, so I'm up for doing them on my car.

It connects to your PC via the rj45. No USB is needed.you PC will talk to the car over ip (once your PC fails at. DHCP it will. Fall back on a private ip (169.x.x.x) and at that point it can talk to your car.

I figured that would be the case - but I'm not sure how to configure the Bimmersoft software to use the network instead of a USB port - probably a different driver, I'd guess. I'll have to contact the vendor and see how that'll work. I've also seen bluetooth OBDII plugs that eliminate the need for a cable, but again, not sure if they will work with the F30's new setup. Thanks for the info!

That said, what do you use to code - NCS Expert? I've got an older version of INPA and NCS Expert, but none of the tables for the F30. Any idea where to find that stuff?

You need e-sys and the pzdata files for an F30 series car. I would not rely on a Bluetooth odbi connector as you don't want the possibility of loosing connection while coding.

Yeah, I was just thinking of that for connecting with my Android tablet to monitor OBDII readouts. I'd never use anything but a cable for coding, same as I keep my work computer connected via cable at home rather than by wireless. Faster, for one thing, and more secure for another.

So where can I find the e-sys and pzdata files?

Hi ... just wanted to chime in to let everyone know that I also make cables, and sell on eBay. I have kept mine consistent @ $20.00 including shipping within the USA ...

Visit my eBay auction to purchase if you are interested at: *****************

I will also provide a link to download the necessary software.
