Chiptuning Question (diesels)

what areas of my car would need upgrade after I chiptune the diesel from 163hp to 197hp, and torque goes from 340Nm to 400Nm. Are brakes on 320d good enough for the power increase, is the steptronic transmission gonna be OK with it? Anything else worth thinking about, or the car is built with some performance surplus so to say and can handle power increases ok without changing the components? it's not so big increase come to think of it, but I thought I'd ask the people who chip tuned theirs...

Should be fine with the stock components. It'll reach the same sorts of speeds, just more quickly.

Paddywac runs a chipped 320d and he seems to get on fine with it. Apart from getting through brakes faster than tyres.

Ive been running a remapped 320d for over a year and 28,000 miles with the same bhp and torque figures as you have quoted.

The brakes have plenty of redundancy in them and I have found no problems stopping when I need to.

Remapping gets you a much smoother delivery of power and when you need it, better acceleration.

from my experience, the stock car handles the remap with ease

Yup - have to agree

Also, the missus has a tuningbox in her 320d E91 and it now has 200 bhp and 400 Nm torque. Makes a great difference to it.
