6 disc changer?

Why in the world did they install a 6 disc changer in the glove box? I know it doesn't take up much space, but between that, the hard drive and the single disc in the center console, who would ever need 7 CDs?

I've never even used the single disc spot.

It will play disc formats that the single CD player won't and which the hard drive can't save for some reason. But, yeah, the hard drive will hold a lot of music and is more convenient to use than either. I hadn't had that sort of electronic convenience in a previous car and I'm spoiled now.

I didn't even know it was there until about a month later. Even PC didn't show me it was there.

So far, I've used it for DVDs for the rear-entertainment. I keep a few loaded, of various genres, in the event passengers would like something to watch.

Wait, I am confused. The M5 actually comes with a 6 cd changer? Or is it an add on at the dealer.

avlnch,

You seem to know about more nooks and crannies on this car than just about anyone here. Were you being serious? If so, you'll notice a small drawstring in the glove compartment, hanging, closer to the driver's side. Pull it.

I put another M badge on it... added 10hp. Problem solved.

I find it hard to believe BMW is still selling 16+ year old tech.

I thought by now they would offer the option to upgrade to Blu-ray. And yes I understand the decision to do so was most likely based on the screen size (resolution), but damn! I can probably get to the store before the movie starts playing!!

Yeah I never thought about a cd changer. Honestly last time I saw and used one was 2006 E60 M5. I'll have to look tomorrow.

In my 2010 M5 and in our current M5's we can burn a ton of music files to the iDrive hard drive. Put the cd into the center slot, navigate to it, tap the controller right to the optional menu and you can burn it to the HDD. Eject the CD and toss it.

I know what your talking about though. There's one of those hidden panels to the fuse box. Never thought to look for another for a cd changer.

You can play DVD's to the back screens using the center CD slot too right? If not then that must be the reason for the changer.

Is it possible to copy music to the hard drive from the iPod?

I don't think so. Only CD's. Then all the song data is accessible through the multimedia menu.
