Just spoke to DMS...( re-map/warranty issues)
they told me on the phone if your car fails, albeit turbo/engine and BMW blame/prove the re-map was the cause of the damage they (DMS) will foot the bill
Now how reliable this is i dont know? surely it could get quite messy if BMW wont fix the car but DMS may clain BMW are not 100% blaming the re-map? and its £850 + vat which is expensive i think compared to CAA who charge £500 i think, can someone confirm?? But CAA dont offer a warranty tho do they? Thanks in advance Carlos

Carl
I think this was stated before, but, although DMS state they offer a warranty, they have never had anyone claim on it. This is obviously a good thing in that there have been no problems perceived to have been caused by DMS, but you would have no idea how they would handle a warranty claim until you needed it (which would probably mean something expensive had broken) Secondly why don't you speak to Simon at e-maps, my understanding is that CA map and his are the same ? and a load cheaper than DMS |

Carl you BIG pussy.
Stop talking about getting the car remapped and just do it. Fook all will go wrong and you'll love it CAA did a good job with me.

With that installed it will give you loads of time to have the kettle warmed up and the digestives looked out in preparation for the "visitors in blue"
Need to get your horse running on 4 legs first .... D.

I thought DMS was £500/550 or something like that if you are a forum member (maybe not here but bmwland?) and you go to them ?

Well i've used them twice now, so that might be why. The first time was on my previous 535D so they gave me a further discount. Just talk to them , if you can get them down to £600 to come out to you and do it, it will be well worth it.
I've had no problems what soever with both remaps and the car seems to be getting faster, now i'm over 12000 miles. I think this has to be one of the best engine's in the world - did i mention that a love my car ! Well the engine anyway Just do it Carl , it really does make the car 20/25% better ! |

I've spoken to Simon at E-maps and he sounds like a decent bloke. Does he actually do the maps for CAA?
Anyway, in the traffic of Central London my stock 335d is quite quick enough for the winter on my summer RE050 tyres. Maybe a shout for the spring when I have grown bored with it .... |

is the e-maps map as aggressive as other companies map? they seem so much cheaper? are the gains not as impressive?

if i was you i would consider www.chippeduk.com
i had my 1 series 1.20d done by them and 1 year on i am still amazed by it when the 335D lands in december im gonna run it in well for a few monthes , then its going straight to them. They are a very proffesional setup in Bromsgrove, impressive facilities and not a bad price either !! when i asked about having the the 335d done i was told they would charge me £300 and it will come with with a 3 year warranty , oh and it would give Power gains of 50hp and 120nm torque ! impressive eh give them a call like i said i am very happy with the 1.20d they did for me, and i carnt wait to take the 335d to them ! hope that helped Chris |

I have heard that DMS honour their comittment to reflash for free if the ECU is wiped by the dealer, but I doubt that they would be happy to cough up for a blown turbo. Expect them to claim that it wasn't their fault and the dealer to do the same. By remapping you risk the dealer finding out and being a dick about the warranty. Lot's of people do it and don't get sussed. It's just down to your attitude on risk. |

E-maps says around 350BHP, same as CAA, but I believe he does maps for them anyway. He also does it straight intot the ECU so a lot harder for the dealer to find.
Simon is down tomorrow doing my car and a couple of others, so if anyone is about in West Sussex, pop in and get it done
