If I get an M4, I'll re-badge it.
This whole 4 series nonsense has finally started to irk me. I currently drive an E46 M3 but it's getting a tad long in the tooth, so the timing is perfect for me to be thinking about a new car. I've always been a coupe over sedan kinda guy, so the M4 is more naturally appealing to me. In my mind, the car is still an M3 and I think I'll just swap badges to make it so.
Who's with me? I find the idea of countering BMW's naming perversity with some of my own, very appealing. But I'll only do it if I can do it right, which would probably entail changing all the badging on the door sills, etc. It's probably highly unlikely that I'll do this...assuming I decide to get that car, that is (which is a big IF anyway.) |

I don't like that BMW changed the name. I don't like the ///M4 designation.
But in the end, it now is an ///M4, that I like it or not. Rebadging it is identifying it with something that it is not. |

2 wrongs don't make a right. Put a mini badge on it and you're done!

These cars are so enormous and luxurious today compared to the original M3 that in a way it's about time it gets a new designation. There isn't much in common between the E30 M3 and today's F80 M3 other than the the badge. They are all M cars and that's really matters more to me than the iconic "M3" that to me will always mainly mean the E30.

It only took 14 posts to get back to the E30 is the real M3. Good.

I see why BMW did what they did, however the cars look to similar. Ask any normal person about A4 and A5 and they will think A5/S5 way more upscale and a different model. They look pretty different with the S5 being gorgeous imo and the A4 being I dunno a VW Passat LOL....Anyway, im ok with BMW renaming but but geez, make the cars look a lot different ala 5 and 6 series....

U must not have seen a 4 series in person. It def looks different compared to an f30. Not like e90 and e92. F32 is lower wider different tail lights and more
