My Horse - F10 550 M-Sport | Log
Thought I'd finally introduce myself, along with my current horse, a 2011 BMW 550xi M-Sport.
I've had almost a handful of cars since I began driving about... 5 years ago. Most came and went due to a series of life lessons. First car: 2006 CLS55 AMG, had it for a little less than a year. Got rid of it because business came first. Didn't do much to it, just some minor aesthetics:
DSC_4977_79_80 original size by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr tr3 (80) by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Second car: 2010 Infiniti G37S 6MT Sedan, had this for about half a year till one day I was sitting shotgun, and my friend forgot to turn traction on while driving over the Brooklyn Bridge during a misty night, and... he crashed my car into a bridge, and I dont care... I love it. j/k Not really, it sucked, but mistakes happen. First thing I did with less than 100 miles on the car was lower it on H&R Springs, aside from that did a bunch of cosmetic mods myself.
dock_shoot_4.22 (7) by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr 19279900_1X by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Third Car: 2010 Audi B8 S4 6MT, probably my favorite car car by far... took a while getting used to Quattro, or AWD in general, but once I did, it was extremely fun. Unfortunately this car got me into the most trouble with the law, so it had to go...
drop_day1 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr 6197331208_e9ecce74eb_b by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Fourth Car: 2001 BMW 330i Convertible, picked this thing up from a friend who built it for his girl but she never drove it, it stood rotting away so I took it off his hands. It was slammed, and stanced, figured it would slow me down for a bit, and allow me to learn to appreciate the less finer cars. What a piece of shit. This thing ended up being a ticking time bomb, and just a month after I bought it... it started to deteriorate on me. There were more problems than a math book ! But I kept driving it, only repairing the necessary things... then my girl drove it for several months. In the end, I just parked it up in front of my shop and it's been standing in and out of the shop for the last half a year. Waiting for good weather to come around so I can finish bringing it back to mint condition and get rid of it.
I'll get some better pics, its on another computer... Last edited by Igor_M5; 02-06-2014 at 06:05 PM.. |

Now onto my 5th, and current car...
2011 BMW F10 550 xDrive M-Sport. My girls dad picked up this lease in 2011, it was the first M-Sport 550 in the Tri-State area, and was built for what I'm assuming was a warm climate region because it didn't come with a Cold Weather Package (haven't seen a single BMW without it in the Tri-State area). Anyway, it was his lease for 2 1/2 years, and I got to drive it here and there. In teh mean time I did some basic things for him:
At the end of December 2013, he came across a crack head deal on a 2013 F10 M5 Demo special. One issue is he still had 6 months on the 550i, we came to an aggreement and I took the car over for the remaining 6 months, as much as I dislike Automatics & BMW xDrive... and the fact that I'll have to cover the cost of existing damage, and over millage on the lease, I still went with it... because along with that aggreement, I get to drive the M5 here and there and we can switch up cars, SOLD. Upon my acquisition, I slapped Bridgestone Blizzaks on all 4 corners, and you could guess what the following mod was. H&R Sport Springs With the current blizzards we're having this season, I feel unstoppable... literally. I TRIED to get myself stuck in many situations, and this thing just rips right out like Batmans Tumbler. After the springs, I also got a few more minor parts.
Here is how it sat before: DSC_8424 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr DSC_8171 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Right after I installed the springs, I tested fitted my CSL 19's that I currently have on my E46. The specs are: 19x8.5 ET20 & 19x9.5 ET20, the rear had a 10mm spacer just to see what it would look like. Keep in mind, the car was not fully settled and the tires are way to small for this car (225/35 & 265/30) DSC_8176 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr CSL-wheel-test1 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr DSC_8178 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr DSC_8181 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr I loved the look, and I'd love to rock the CSL's, especially since I haven't seen anyone else on a F10 with them, they looked unique, but the tires were simply not cutting it, and I wasn't going to change them since they were literally brand new. The following day we had another blizzard, so the caterpillar tracks went back on... Along with 10mm spacers in the rear. This is how the car sits now, fully settled. I LOVE the ride, I will never get anything but H&R springs (Not a fan of coilovers, would rather get a quality air ride kit if I'm going that route). DSC_8423 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr DSC_8440 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Here's the before & after comparison. comparison by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr All cleaned up. DSC_8322 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr The grilles... DSC_8321 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr And the interior, I know it's little subtle changes, but I love them. To me... the nav trim makes a huge difference, especially since I stare at it everyday. DSC_8327 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr The button cover also makes a noticable difference, at least for me. Goes well along with the other aluminum coated accents, besides, the old flat black plastic one was already all banged up and worn out. DSC_8326 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr The horse. As she was this morning... in the Antarctic like habitat that I've been driving through everday for the last week. It moves like the OTB Horse she is. : IMG_7119 by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr Oh yea, a lot of work is still ahead.... Then it goes back on the lease in 6 months. Ha ha. I love the historical narration and the mild expletives along the way. I laffed my fat ass off Absolutely hilarious. What a journey you've been on. Love your old S4. What a shame your E46 was such a disappointment but it makes you appreciate the stallion you're on now.

I think I've seen you around before with the black G37s
I also met the guy with the red vert before. He coded my 335 and I picked up his JB tune from his 550. Alan |

I also forgot...
I happened to drop my key down a long flight of stairs, and the cover holding down the buttons came flying off along with all the buttons. Luckily I was able to recover it all, and since the cover was already off, I decided to color-code the button cover to the color of the car. What do you guys think? Thanks for sharing. You'll enjoy the 550i. With regards to the B8 S4 I agree with you 100%. It is an amazing car, probably my favorite car to date as well.
The 550 is faster, more luxurious, and more comfortable, but Audi hit it right on the head with the B8 S4. More then adequate power, great chassis, and just a blast to drive. I do miss that car.

Got the paddle shifters in the mail, unfortunately... they don't fit. Guess I'll need to find a F30 steering wheel now. BMW M6 Paddle Shifters by ONEighty_NYC, on Flickr |

Really enjoyed reading this. Some nice cars you've had along the way. The S4 is still my favorite of them all though.
Question: why was the front bumper off in those last pics? |

They look great! Would look even better in a darker finish.
