M3/M4 Markup

I went to my local BMW dealer last night, I was told by the sales manager they're marking them up $5,000 to $10,000 potentially even $15k. Anyone hearing the same?

Most of us who have put down a deposit are being told MSRP with standard discounts like loyalty/BMWCCA. Try a new dealer IMO.

Yeah, the problem for the OP at this late date is to get MSRP he will need to get on a list and wait, or search less popular areas for a dealer with a short or no preorder list. Greedy dealer are counting on some to want to pay to bypass the line.

Some clarification, he mentioned they have 8 initial allocations, I'm assuming he's referring the markup to those cars? Or am I wrong, no markup period?!

Allocations are order slots distributed to dealers by BMW. No allocation, no order. Has nothing to do with what the dealer does with that allocation. The quantity of allocations a dealer gets is variable based on their sales, customer satisfaction index, and phase of the moon. AFAIK, no US dealer has an allocation yet. Maybe they have heard advance information, but I would take anything a dealer tells you at this point with a grain of salt unless you have prior experience with them that gives you faith in their credibility.

This is one of the disadvantages of living in certain areas of the country and time after time SoCal does not disappoint in this regard.

I'd say "MSRP" is already "marked up" by the manufacturer. It's already expensive as is. Invoice is what ideally people should be looking to pay, but to be an early adopter, fine, you don't mind paying MSRP. Anything over that is just outrageous.

This! If they tell you that, then just laugh and tell them good luck.

I think there is going to be a lot of dealers who is going to charge below MSRP, maybe not invoice, but definitely not MSRP. My M3 order is not MSRP.

Typically it is just the dealers who are either in the highest volume areas or dealers who are in the highest income areas. I am sure Long Beach is up there as well even though they spouted stupid shit to one of the members here.
