Custom shop in Richmond, VA?? and Lowering Spring install question.

I just ordered a set of H&R lowering springs for a 2012 535xi, what pricing are members on here paying for install. I am in Richmond, VA I was quoted $950.00 and 8hrs of labor.......this can't be right.

The shop I currently go to is RPM Performance, I am pleased with their work but it seems like their pricing is a bit over the top. Maybe because I from the South where things are cheaper. I just find it hard to pay such high labor rates for a car I may drive once or twice a month.

That's very high I had my H&R springs installed by wheels boutique in Miami for $400 & took them roughly 7 hours.

A mechanic, my son, and I had them out and in with a time of 1.5 hrs. Full blown shop with wall mount spring compressor Make sure to tell the installer to use the remove the rear speakers method.

You should take a drive up to Sterling, VA and visit Road Racing Technologies! This installation doesn't take 9 hours and even with a full wheel alignment shouldn't cost more than $500.00!

I did H&R on my 2011 535 xdrive and it was around $500 so I agree, shop around.

Thanks for your help. I am mechanically inclined for the most part but I am working out of state on assignment and do not have a garage to work nor tools. But that $950+ I just couldn't wrap my head around that just for springs only. But I will try these suggestions, thanks everyone!

I called RRT and while I can't remember the price, it was significantly more than $500. I ended up driving to Laurel Md and had them done at Elite Auto for $500. Probably much further than you'd want to drive. Keep looking, there has to be something better around.

bump.

Still looking, I am not rushed because I rarely have time to drive and enjoy the car. But this is ridiculous. I refuse to pay $1000 just because it says "BMW" on the hood.

Well I just got everything installed today $600 including alignment in a week, when everything settles. Sounds like a win to me.

Glad you finally found a place. Alignment is a personal preference. I never had mine aligned and after 6 months I've had no issues with pulling or uneven tire wear. I'm not convinced the shop wouldn't just plug the factory specs into a computer and never get the alignment right anyway.
