Rear spring replacement

Hi!

I'm going to install the H&R springs on my car this weekend. And have a question for you guys. When replacing the rears.. Do both sides have to be lifted off the ground?

Last time I did a job like this, was on my E36 M3. On that car I had to lift both rear sides up to get the job done.

Yes. Because you have to drop the arm that the spring rests on, the sway bar will give you a bitch of a time if you do one side at a time.

The etorx nut is for the rear strut top hat. The F30 top hat bolted on with 3 etrox bolts and is accessed through the underside of the wheel well (unlike the E90). I forgot the size of the etorx nut, but you can use a regular 6-sided socket to get the 3 bolts out. I've uninstalled/installed the strut about 20 times so far and I used a socket every time.

Ok, thanks! I'll be buying a etorx set anyways :-) What about putting the car on jack stands? Is it safe to jack up the car using central wishbone ball joint for the front? what about the rear?

You should absolutely use jack stands. That is a given. As far as what jack points to use, it depends on the situation. In the rear I use the subframe. The front... I always use a spot that doesn't compressed the suspension but is solidly attached to the frame of the car.
