Aux cables
Evening Guys and Gals,
Just a quick on really, I bought a iPhone Aux cable for the car last month as Id just upgraded to an iPhone 5s and I like to listen to the music on my phone (no need to lug CD's around). The one I bought was great, looks good and does what it says on the tin BUT it essentially is just playing through the jack so you have to turn it right up then turn the HU right up. Now with my previous iPhone (4s) i had a Aux cable but it was just the 12pin (is that right?) anyway it played as loud as CD's would without turning the phone up etc. Sooo what Im asking is does anybody else have this problem or know of any other cables like my previous one? Mike

well aux cables are usually connected throe the headphone output jack so yes, you do use the iphone volume control to adjust the volume (that is for iphone 5) For Iphone 4 yes, they made the 12 pin output from the iphone to aux on the other end and by that your volume was default and you did not have to and could not adjust the volume as it was playing out at the pre set settings. If you can connect your iphone 5 though usb you would be in the same shoes but if you are connecting throe headphone output then yes, make sure your iphone headphone volume is up
Hope that helps |

I pretty much knew that, I basically don't want to be having the volume on Max on my phone and when me and the Maude go crazy and want to listen to a few songs loud and when such an event happens make i then cant make most of my fantastic speakers lol.
So in a nutshell I was better off with an iPhone 4s or even a 3gs lol. Well that cant be true, can it? I shouldn't have to plug such a technologically advanced phone into a pretty advanced HU via the jack if the previous didn't. I hope Im making sense.

I don't use my iphone 5s for a music, have the 160gb ipod that i use but that is connected by 12 pin, from what I know my bmw is not working well with iphone 5s (been told by the dealer) so I never use it but will have to do some test when I get my car back

Ok to clear things up lol.
This is what I was using before with no problems, loss of quality and no need to wind up to 11 just to get it to play at 5 on the HU.
