Lights - halogen or xenons?

Going with a 228 M Sport so have to decide on standard lights or xenon. How good are the standard and how much better are the xenon. I have the HID's on my GTI right now but they are not heads and shoulders above good halogens IMO.

Get the Xenon. If you don't you lose the signature BMW LED Halo headlights. To me without those any BMW just doesn't look like a modern BMW anymore. But perhaps even more importantly is the fact that BMW Xenon lights are REALLY good. You won't regret it.

BMW needs to stop it already with the ancient Halogen lights. Xenon should be standard and LEDs the option.

The adaptive lights on my 135i are the best headlights I've ever had in a car. Auto-cornering, auto-levelling, awesomeness... I have to chuckle a bit when I see people driving BMW's and Audis and Mercs and running the cheap headlights... You went that far to buy an expensive luxury car, but then you cheap out and get the sucky headlights... LOL!

Get the xenons, you won't be disappointed.

So it seems like everyone likes the halogens! I guess it will be xenons after all. Thanks for the input.

I'll go ahead and say Halogen.

Kidding. Go with xenon. You won't regret it. BS that you have to pay so much for them, but ultimately you get the iconic angel eyes and the adaptive lights are fantastic.

Xenon

Otherwise you're left with not only halogen, but *reflectors*. Not even halogen projectors (like I have on my 2010 Mazda3 and my 1999 Cougar)

No kidding. Too bad it's not even an option to get anything but outdated incandescent bulbs for taillights until 2-3 years with LCI. What a joke on $50k cars!

110% xenons. I will NEVER purchase another vehicle w/o either those or LED.

Resale valve is the issue.

The cheap, comes out expensive.

Xenons by a large margin - no comparison to the halogens.

There is actually something to this. When I was ordering mine, my sales guy told me about someone he had gotten a great deal for but then couldn't close it because no Xenon.
