Gas Guzzler tax?
Since MPG ratings haven't been released, do you think we could escape Gas Guzzler Tax?
With the new engine, you don't think the combined will be > 22.5 MPG?? I want to tick another option box rather than pay for GGT. Thoughts?

The old car does 14/20, with a combined rating of 17mpg. The new car is 25% better which puts it on 21.25mpg. This is as per BMW press release (the 25% number). If this is true, it will be just under 22.5mpg.

Gas guzzler calc is different than regular fuel economy figures. My "08 manual is 14/20/16 on the sticker. Get the government involved and things get complicated.

I am just hoping it is over 22.5 combined so i'll be able to tick another option box.

The 1300 gas guzzler tax is going to be nothing like the operating expenses of this car. Insurance, tires, wheels, winter setup and so on. I hope you are factoring all of this in. |

It's a fair question! You're right, it is nothing on a 66k car. Can't get rated for insurance yet...not released yet You're absolutely right that I shouldn't buy this vehicle, but I have put myself in a position to finally purchase one without limiting my lifestyle. It will be the same payment as my 135. I don't make what others on here make, but my gambles and conservatism have paid off over the years. I don't live in my parents basement. I own my place, have no real debt. I just don't have any vices except cars and food. Dont really drink, don't smoke, don't do the weed. If your concern is truly sincere...thanks. If not, this thread was just me wishing out loud for the GGT to afford me another options box b/c they MPGs weren't officially released. Also, I am really hoping for some better gas mileage since it is just a turbo six. Quote:
Just a personal limit. Saving that GGT gets me 19s or the HK.
