Thumbs down Paying over MSRP?? no thanks!

So this is more of a rant... I was number one on my dealer's list for an M4 and was willing and agreed to pay full MSRP (yes... I know!). Recently I emailed him about lease rates after the pricing was released. In the pricing that was provided, I noticed he used an MF of 0.0017 instead of 0.0013. When I asked him about it, he said "that is our mark up. Sorry, we can't do at the buy rate". I responded with saying that MSRP is already above invoice pricing and that I'd shop around.

Ridiculous! Thinking of just getting a good deal on a 435... any other suggestions? I live in the Silicon Valley area. Btw the quote I got was 1,129/month for a car with MSRP 69,775. (10K miles per year)

Thats terrible!!!! These cars are seriously overpriced with markups and no incentives from what I am hearing through financial people as well. I am ready to consider an AMG for the money

I guess you can always walk or finance the car from other sources. Or tell the SA that you will pay that rate but when the post customer survey come, you would sure give them a terrible score so they will lose out on the CSI bonus.

It all sounds like a lot of nonsense for a 3 series. Coupe or sedan. Just wait a bit, you will get this great car for the right numbers a year from now, that's all~!

If you have a relationship with the dealer I'd make a fuss; they should do the right thing to KEEP you as a customer. If not, just wait...in 6-12 months allocations will have increased, the initial furor will have died down and you should be able to negotiate under MSRP.

The problem is the owners of the dealerships (people none of us will ever see) sit in meetings and understand the few chances in the market to really profit. This is one of them, and I agree with the logic! This is capitalism..but I won't be the suckers who gets the first one..

If the lease rate is that high, just get Porsche. M cars are nice, Porsche is better (IMHO)

Awesome deals on the M5 and M6 right now, M5 residual is excellent for a lease but M6 not quite as good. M6 has bigger discounts or build out credit

If you don't mind being 5 or 6 on the list, PM me your details and i can hook you up with my SA. I had someone do similar with me but luckily i have my local dealer where I am either #1 or #2 on the list (no markups). They stand a lot to lose if they try any last min games, I have helped this dealer sell over 15 cars in the past 2 years to friends/family.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I actually need a car right now (and am driving a rental) and was just waiting till late June/July because of the M4. I am still relatively new to the bay area and never dealt with this dealership before. What really annoys me is this cheap tactic to charge over MSRP when we had decided on MSRP ahead of time. Are these cars that highly sought after? Actively searching for an alternative at the moment...
@emranc I might PM you if I decide to still go for a BMW... hoping that your SA can get me a good deal

Some dealers have a 40 basis mark up on every lease per their corporate policy. This is a profit for the back end. The Finance managers don't work for free.

It's pretty interesting how everyone wants to buy a car at or below invoice and at the buy rate.

Newsflash. Dealerships are NOT a non-profit organization.

These are the times that the dealers relish. When demand far outweighs the supply for the latest bright shiny object. The tide will change in a couple years as it pertains to the F8X.

Well I didn't expect below invoice... I expected MSRP (that both myself and the dealer agreed to). I hate the fact that I wasted time and didn't look for a different car based on my agreement with the dealer that he did not honor.

I'm getting very interested in the M5 deals. Could somebody PM me or let me know what they are seeing out there? Are people getting leases for $1k-1.3k/month on M5s these days? Any help much appreciated. Thx!
