Ceramic pads for 435 with M-Sport brakes?
Picked up our new 435Xi with M-Sport brakes yesterday and already fed up with the brake dust after only 20 miles. I've looked all over and can't find any manufacturer that offers ceramic pads yet and was hoping that someone here has had better luck.
I've put ceramic pads on every new car that we've gotten since 2002 and love the lack of brake dust and have never found a loss of braking power. Can anyone help? |

I second this.
We need ceramic pads! I've been searching for replacement pads because the dust is obnoxious. Has anyone found anything?

they are most likely not ceramic, but some folks have used Porterfield R4-S pads with good results. ie. better pedal feel and less dust than factory.

Centric is offering both a Semi-Metallic and a Ceramic pad set for the M Sport brakes. I ordered the Semi-Metallic compound, not received yet...

i checked with akebono-usa in august, i am not familiar with the company but they seemed highly regarded on the forum. They gave me the part numbers but said we are a year out. i think what we are overlooking is they probably need some sort of regulation approval to be street legal and i am guessing that takes time. here is what i received from them:
Grant We currently do not have pads for your application. We are in the process of launching them. Front = Will be EUR1609. We are having trouble finding the counter balance weights. Rear = Will be EUR1610. Just requested the drawings to be made. I do not see them being ready until next year. Sorry. Kirby Pruitt | Product Development Manager Akebono Brake Corporation Thanks |

Any specific reason why you won't order the Ceramic set or are those backordered also?

Careful, even though some pads dust less, the dust they do give off may be more aggressive and etch your wheels......
You should also consider how well your new low dust pads will work in lower temps if your using a track pad. Always a trade-off guys just be aware. |
