Does the car have to be serviced in the BMW dealer network to perserve warranty?

Could it not be looked after with OEM parts by an independent garage that specializes but is not approved in the bmw network?

I'm thinking for all of the CBS stuff it would be main dealer...

Any preventative servicing I do... I would rather do it myself or through the independent.

If you're talking BMW warranty then it can be serviced at any VAT registered garage as long as they use genuine BMW parts.

Yeh talking BMW warranty. That is handy to know because all the dealerships around me have been a mega let down and to be honest I want to go back to my mechanic up north... happy to do that once a year for servicing needs/MOT etc.

You'll get more leeway on unwarranted gratis fixes if servicing stays in BMW network. E.g. valve rocker gasket last year on mine.
