Q: Convenient access work with rear doors?
Hi,
Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, tried searching the forum and manual for this, but couldn't find an answer. I bought a used 2006 330xi, and for a while (I believe) I could unlock all doors by touching either rear door handle. Then I modifying the settings on one of my keys, and now only the front door handles work with the convenient access unlock feature. How do I get the rear door handles to unlock all doors with CA? What's even stranger is I asked a service guy at the dealership, and he claimed only the 7-series CA can unlock doors using a rear door handle. I could be crazy, but I'm pretty sure rear door handles worked on my 330xi for a while. Thanks. |

On front doors only. If you look, there are no grooves on the rear door handles for locking.
You can set it with the OBC stalk or I-drive (personal preferences) to unlock/lock all doors or just front doors only though. BTW if you don't mind me asking, what are the specs on the 330xi and how much did you pay and the miles. I'll be selling mines next July when I get the e93 and wanted to get a feel for the prices. TIA.

Actually technically the correct term is "Convenient Access", but somehow ended-up being Comfort Access and it kind of stuck.

I'm pretty sure at some point I was able to UNLOCK by touching a rear door handle. I even showed it off to tons of people because I thought it was such a cool feature.

My 550i has it on all four doors but BMW charges $500 more to cover the extra doors.

BTW do you have an SO and maybe the SO had the other key fob on them and they had unlocked the doors from the pass side of the car.

Very sure I could open rear-doors every time (minus anybody else around) until I started tooling around with the CA settings a few weeks ago, and now I can't get it back. |

It's not an option for the E90. Sorry.

Prices next july will be different enough from current prices that you'll probably get a very very rough idea from todays. If you want very rough guesses, you will get today by looking at ebay and other used car websites.
